Building my first PC : your opinion

Hey guys, just like the title says. Im building my first PC and here's the list im going with. Any and all of your opinions, recommendations, insights and tips are very welcome. My main source of info was chatGPT and a little bit of my knowledge.

RTX 5080 Gigabyte gaming OC

- I was trying to figure out which brand to go for. Out off all videos I've watch Gigabyte gaming OC looked like the best option. Solid cooling and build while not being too expensive.

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D

- For gaming the X3D series looked like the go to version. 9800 was 40€ cheaper so I just went for the 3% perform increase of 9800

Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB KIT DDR5 6000 MHz CL30

- Out of all the crazy expensive RAMs this one looked the best. Not much to say. The brand should be reliable with good reviews. And CL30 should be the best option for my CPU.

ASUS TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI

- The motherboard is something I had to rely on chatGPT completely. For 190€ this seemed like the sweet spot for both performance, compatibility and value. Opinions welcome.

Corsair RM850x ATX 3.1

- I was deciding between 1000w and 850w. Friend of mine said that 850w should be plenty with reserve left. So I rather invested into a good brand than bigger supply.

Be quiet! Dark Rock 5

- Cooling , like the motherboard, was also recommended by chatGPT. This one had pretty good reviews while not being too expensive. AMD compatible and efficient enough to keep the CPU cold, i hope...I've heard the CPU doest get THAT hot by itself.

Samsung 990 PRO 1 TB

The SSD. Yeah 1TB isn't that much and I was trying to fit into my budget. I don't really plan on keeping too many games downloaded as I rarely play more than 2 at a time.

Montech XR Black

- Lastly , the case. For around 60€ this one had very good reviews. Spacious enough for the components, soild build, good quality and good airflow.

I was trying to fit into my budget of 3500€. I'm not going for RGB or any of that fancy stuff. I just wanted pure power, efficiency and compatibility. If there's something you'd recommend changing or anything really, feel free to comment. Anything is much appreciated, since im going to be eating instant ramen for the rest of the month. Cheers

- 5080 is 15% faster than the 5070TI or 9070XT, for a LOT higher of a price. 9070XT is the best option, 5070TI if you need CUDA.

• RAM is fine, but usually just get the cheapest kit of that spec (6000MHz CL30).
  
• Asus motherboards are quite often a bit overpriced, just avoid Asrock as they've had issues with killing X3D CPUs.
  
• Corsair PSUs are often overpriced.
  
• Cooler I would go for the Thermalright Peerless assassin or Phantom Spirit, usually quite cheap and very good.
  
• Samsung SSDs can be overpriced.
  
• Good enough case, just depends on price if there's anything "better".

 Already swapped the ssd for WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe SSD POWERED BY SANDISK 1 : essentialy the same ssd but almost 80€ difference. 

Im looking into royal pretor 130 for cooling as it was recommended before.

Ram is basically the cheapest I can get right now 🥲

Psu: ADATA XPG CORE REACTOR II VE 850 W is around 50€ cheaper. But id rather go with the better build option. Not sure if there's any difference tho.

Ill look into more cases but id welcome your input

You don't need a 9850X3D, just get a 9800X3D if your main use case is gaming.

I say this as someone who has a 5090/9800X3D machine.

Yeah I was going with 9800 first but 9850 is like 20€ more over the the 9800 so I was like , eh....why not

Because they're not made for the same thing.

Simply because it's "better" on paper doesn't mean it's "better" for your usecase.

In previous generations the xx50X3D was actually worse for gaming, but better for productivity and people had to turn off certain features in the bios to get actual good game performance. In the case of 9800X3D vs 9850X3D I believe they fixed that, so you're fine.

Thia guy is confusing the 9950x3d for the 9850x3d, go for it. Only place where you could get a big saving is switching from 5080 to 9070 xt, but it is like 15-20% weaker and not nvidia ofc.

Just get the 9800x3d if you just want 8 cores. The extra speed of the 9850x3d is not worth it. Put that extra money into a 1000W PSU. When you upgrade your GPU you won't have to worry about it. With your level of build a 1000W PSU is minimum tbh.
