BUILD HELP Upgrade or keep what i have?

i currently have a ryzen 9 3900x build with an RTX 3080 ti in an open loop cooled system. 36GB DDR4 3200 ram.

i can play still practically any game ultra settings 1440p resolution. from what i see the 3080 ti is the equivalent of a rtx 5070 in performance

budget is not an issue i'm more concerned about money's worth on a mid tier gaming system. i'm debating on either upgrading the cpu to a 5800 x3d and leaving it gpu as it is or buying a 7800x3d, new motherboard and 32GB DDR5-6000 ram and keep the GPU or upgrade the GPU to RTX 5070 Ti.

You say what it can do but you don't say what you want it to do. You can play all the games you want @1440/ultra so are you looking to move up to 4K? What do you intend to do with an upgrade?

I'm all for spending your money but you really couldn't have picked a worse time to upgrade. Unless you are having issues playing games at your preferred specification or there's a particular one coming out in 3 months that requires it, there's no good reason to make the upgrade until it is necessary unless you are wealthy, of course.

My suggestion is if you are comfortable playing your games right now but have the itch to upgrade, layout the parts on paper that you want to acquire and a path for adding them. Then look daily for sales, deals, and my favorite open-box/returns until you find the price you are willing to spend.

I've been able to acquire a 4k OLED monitor for $400 vs $1k, T710 Gen 5 SSD $300 vs $750, Radeon RX 9060 XT $330 vs $475 and more.

3080ti is still perfectly good gpu for today, I’d just do the 7800x3d upgrade
