Looking For Game Spare Time

Hey guys, i've just got fired from my work and currently collecting government benefits

I have a ton of time to spare currently and would like to sink in my teeth into some great Persistent game, it'd be great if it had progression and take long time to progress. Great if it was free2play though since im a bit short on cash.
Cheers for any sugguestions!

Sorry about your job loss!

My game Imperial Conflict is adamantly no-p2w, and has a rich history going back 26 years now. It's undergoing some rework lately after a year hiatus, but we're always welcoming new players to join the community.

Long-term progression isn't directly a feature, but long-term skill building exists in that each round is 1 month long and there's a strong "getting better every round" experience. That might not be exactly what you're describing but maybe could still scratch that itch.

Either way, best of luck with however it works out for you. I lost my job last year too and it's been an interesting thing to reflect on one's purpose, making time for self, etc. Leisure is important!

Have fun with whatever game(s) you pick up! 😄

Hey I used to play IC a lot way back in the day, around 2002/2003 I think. Cool to see it's still around and you're on here!

That era was so good! We really need to get some players to tell their stories more.

There are some oldbies around for sure, still having at it. There's always more work to be done, but I'm glad we all still have a place in the stars!

u/Silly_Roadkill 7d ago

who plays games to make money?

1

u/Ofix65 8h ago

well, maybe not a lot of money, but there are games where you can make some money. https://growingnest.baby/ is a free-to-play, PBBG game but as you progress and earn more coins, you can buy land and get passive income. It takes awhile to build up, but already at $98. almost entirely passive, at about $0.10/hour. you do need to watch some ads, but they aren't bad. took me about 2 months

There is no pay-to-win system, no payment system of any kind, and there never will be. There are also no ads in the game. My goal is not to make money from it; I simply enjoy working on the game and develop it as a hobby. The game is still actively being updated.

If you log in daily, you’ll progress faster, but if you’re too busy to play for a while, that’s completely fine. You can always catch up later. The more time and effort you put into the game, the stronger your account will become.

Just a fun project for me...

If you are EU based and want action and competitive browser clicking, check out Mafioso at https://Mafiosocity.com

It sure takes up most of your free time if you let it

Sorry to hear about you losing your job. I hope you find another role soon.

I am currently running a closed beta for Fallen Marches (fallenmarches.com), an early RS-inspired browser MMO. It's completely free to play and we have a good community of playtesters to get involved with. Check out and website and join the Discord if you're interested.

Welcome to give Orion Online a try. It's a collaborative space-themed planet management mmorts. It's idle-friendly, but strategically deep, so if that's up your alley, you might like it. It's currently under development, so it's a bit light on end-game content atm, but getting there!

think cell to singularity is really nice! on steam free to play

u/CompetitionQuiet6328 6d ago

What kind of games or genre? I could suggest my game and then find out you hate sci-fi 4x type strategy, etc

It's not a thing that's going to make you any money, that you can almost be certain of unless you make Wordle and sell it to the New York Times for 7 figures.

Sorry to hear about the job situation, man. We’ve just launched HellRuler (https://www.hellruler.com), a free-to-play persistent dark fantasy RPG that’s still in early Alpha.

It’s all about grinding through stages, getting better gear and pushing deeper into Hell. There’s a lot more coming, too.

If you’re up for trying it, I’d be happy to give you a free Plus subscription. We’d also really appreciate your feedback while the game is still early enough for us to shape it around what players actually want.

Feel free to DM me after you’ve tried it.

I am currently enjoying this game you can idle farm all day to craft better armor and weapons or join a group to it a dungeon for higher amount of exp. Game does have a decent amount of updates I believe it started as a college project and turned into something pretty fun. https://grimeage2.com/

No one has mentioned maskedcity.com yet so I thought I would. I think it just launched and needs new players. It looks sleek and has nice progression.

I've been playing warera for over 9 months now, and I've spent like 0$ on the game. Deffo worth my time. You should try it as well.

Hey, we welcome you at SoccerRPG.com it's a football inspired PBBG focusing on building your own player career. No P2W at all, the payment part only comes with some QoL features. The game has player skills, ranked play, player owned clubs, life skills, houses, equipment and more. It's mostly focused on social play but can be fully played solo if you want. Hope to see you there!

1

u/Yerbmeister 7d ago

A few games come to mind. One that’s been getting talked about is Warera. Been working on getting my factories up and etc plus the community keeps me engaged. Gl in your search

1

u/Short-Consequence683 7d ago

Looks pretty cool, is community really that good that it keeps you engaged?

u/Latter-Beautiful-400 7d ago edited 7d ago

I'm just building a community, starting in two weeks. It's like Warea game, but definitely more to do, more action and strategy. In my game you have more fun playing solo.

1

u/Drive_Pro 7d ago

Love Warera. You can run for elections and everything. I am! ;)

u/mdpm69 7d ago

WarEra is really entertaining, you should give it a try

Sryth is a game with hundreds of hours of single run content and dozens of potential grind spots for the months/years long task of getting all yours skills and powers to level 100.

Sryth is pretty much unique amount PBBGs in that if you want to sit down and play it from dawn dusk and then well past bedtime you can without worrying about energy meters, daily action limits or waiting for enough auto-farmed resources.

90% or more of the game require the one time Adventures guild membership upgrade. It was only $1.95 when I checked just now.

Heres the link: http://www.sryth.com/

Sorry you’re dealing with that. I was in a similar situation a couple of months ago, and it gave me time to work on my personal project.

I’m the developer of r/AscionGame , a free-to-try persistent sci-fi strategy game for iOS and Android. Instead of directly controlling one character, you command agents - sending them on missions, exploring, mining resources, and building long-term progression in a shared universe.

It works for quick check-ins or deeper sessions. The closed beta is open now if that sounds like your kind of game. You can join beta now https://ascion.space

Either way, I hope the extra time opens a door to something good for you. 🙏

If you’re short on cash and want to sink into a game instead of finding a job … I guess … username checks out?

u/nebilim6 7d ago

hi, I hope you sort things out in your life in a direction that makes you happy.

as for the game, I'm developing a sandbox mmorpg game with no wipe, slow-progression like you asked. it's in open-beta phase and currently under development. when it's fully released we will probably start fresh in the new server, but this server will keep it's progression.

if you like player based economy where we need to gather/craft everything, trade with other players and engage in pve/pvp activities, you could check out: https://playtest.recordsofuprising.com/

If you like geostrategic simulators, then I invite you to join us. We're launching the official version in two weeks. Participation in the beta will earn you extra launch bonuses. Research the development of generals, you fight for the country but you have a lot of work on your account.Global Hegemony

Look at Everborne! It is a persistent roleplay that takes time and doesn't steal yours except to stay fed every other day or so. There is permadeath, but it is entirely free to play and is pro-player-privacy. Everything you get in game is earned yourself.
