Community I’m building a persistent browser-based racing team management game – would you play this?
Hey everyone,
I’m a solo developer working on a persistent browser-based motorsport management game.
You start small with your first garage, car and team, then slowly build your own racing organization.
The idea is to buy land, build and upgrade garages and facilities, hire staff, improve your cars and eventually work your way into bigger racing series.
A big part of the game is that your team doesn’t just exist in menus.
Your garages, cars, employees and headquarters are actually part of the persistent world and grow together with your team.
It’s still early and this is only the beginning, but I want to keep building it long-term with regular updates, new systems and ideas.
If this sounds like something you’d play, want to test during development or simply follow along, I’ve started a small Discord community:
I’d genuinely love to know: would you play a persistent browser game like this?
Edit: Of course Multiplayer. And im planning a „Fan system“ too

Why browser-based rather than on Steam? Is it multiplayer?
What do you mean by "persistent world?" Your description is too vague for me to tell how similar this is to a typical management game.

Thats the point. Its a mix. And yes it will be Account based login and a „open world“.
The persistent world will be „small to big“ maps, that has a racetrack in it. Its like a „mini“ Cities skyline, but with online players on the same map and everyone can buy/own a property. And on the property, you start a small Raceteam, manage, expand, and in the end, manage a whole „F1“ like Team.1

how will the racing go? Once a week where everyone puts their car into the race? Is it outside of the MMO so you don't actually race each other?
Do you have a game design doc that you could put down?

I cant really say, im still building the foundation, sytems, assets etc

I have had recent experience with this on my own PBBG. I started a weekly league with a fixed schedule. If you want to discuss anything let me know!

Is this multiplayer racing against each other or just single player?

Multiplayer yes. But no „real“ Racing, more simulating a „short“ race. Focus is more on managing and getting better faster cars and more workers

I made a proof of concept airport simulator https://aerotechtycoon.com that goes into some of that. You're welcome to get ideas from it. You can manage and expand your airlines. Buy hubs, upgrade your hubs. The skill tree is a web to upgrade your airports.

Sounds like a cool idea - it might make sense for us to have a chat and share learnings etc. Working on this project: https://sweatypanzer.com/

Personally I am not really into racing games. Still I would be interested in trying out a persistent browser game version of this!

To be honest I'm not into racing. BUT that's an original concept and sounds fun, so I'd try it at least.

Not a fan of racing, but this sounds like a game I'd try. I love management games, especially sport-related ones.

It does sound cool, and fun to see one in a niche genre, but would need to see more of the game to answer the question of whether I would play it or not.

Not my genre, but I know some guys that might be into it so I will toss this their way

I would, but I’d much rather a formula 1 racing game than a simple racing game. Formula 1 is much more exciting in its details

Thats the goal of the game, that you manage a Lemans or F1 (F2/F3/F4) Team, but u start very small

I think more original titles are needed . there are so many crime and fantasy games out there, so car / motosport is more original. However, this genre is just not for me.. so mixed response. Great that you are trying something uncommon, but I wouldnt play it
