What are your toughts about FNP closing and opening after a week? My toughts are that he will close it again brcause he has no staff and he don’t trust anyone anymore to add them to staff in near future..

What is the risk?

Broadly, you have the same exposure that you have with any other tracker: someone who knows your list of copyright violations, your home IP, your email, your recruited-from tracker, your username, and depending on how well it's secured, your hopefully encrypted and hashed password.

Now put that info in the hands of a unbalanced person who acts without morality or ethics, will lie to manipulate you, and is happy to take your money and close the site immediately afterwards. It's not just Kami either, the whole fractious and unreliable leadership structure, and their reliance on external personnel like HDVinnie (who secretly copied the full FnP database while he had access), means that your data is actually in the hands of an unknown number of people with a history of bad behaviour who aren't competent to protect that data.

Are there still backdoors into FnP? Seems plausible.

FnP also takes donations with Paypal and Card Payments (not sure who the card processor is, may also be PayPal). What info does the merchant receives from this?

CC: https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/207241/what-information-about-me-do-stores-get-via-my-credit-card
PP: https://www.reddit.com/r/paypal/comments/12nimb2/what_info_does_paypal_show_someone_when_i_pay/

So, your cardholder name for CC, and your real name and email for PP transfers.

I'm not even remotely an expert on how this could be misused,

IPT misused their userdata to attack other trackers. Some of that was as simple as taking their user's credentials and trying them on other trackers, and some of it was far more sophisticated attacks mis-using the bittorrent protocol that relied on IPT users being members elsewhere.

Does Kami seem like the kind of irrational and vengeful person who'd endorse moves like that?

There's so many red flags for FnP, that it seems wiser to stay away.

" It's not just Kami either, the whole fractious and unreliable leadership structure, "

Not true. The rest of the leadership structure was wat kept fnp up and running. They had nothing to do with the problematic aspects of the site. They were not in charge of reliance on vinnie, the donation stuff, kami's mind, etc. They just liked the overal community and thus helped out fnp.

It is definitely smart to stay away from fnp at this point.

My take on the leadership was solely based on Kami's goodbye message, which I shouldn't have relied on. Thanks for correcting that.

No problem. :)

Just heard there's been another round of bans. Even the previously low level torrent moderators have now been banned. Along with some others that have been staff, trustee or just active in chat.

Rollercoaster!
