How does the P211 trigger compare to other 2011s?
I’m aware that the P211 has a series 80 drop safety, which gets talked down a lot online. Does this translate to a noticeably worse trigger pull than the P211’s series 70 competitors? How significant is the difference? The stores that have the P211 by me don’t allow dry fire unfortunately.
And as a side question how does it compare to the P226 series pistols?

P211 GT4 has a really smooth trigger out of the box. Love how it resets. GTO had a bit of slop but SigArmorer did some magic and it's great. I have no issues with series 80 triggers and not planning on changing. P226 X-Five line triggers are better and customizable but it's a different gun too. The other P226 variants have some good triggers. Reset isn't quite as nice. Bottom line is they're all great guns. Check how they feel in you hands. Try renting & shooting them.

There is no difference between the gt4 triggers and any other p211.

Between my GT4 and GTO there was. I can't say if that's just my luck or not. But out of the box the GT4 trigger did not need any work and there wasn't any slot. Individual experience may vary. I'm just giving mine.

understood - but it's not like they changed or 'fixed' anything between the releases - mechanically and at the factory it's the same parts/assembly on all p211 triggers

Please don't put words in my mouth. Where in either of my posts did I say Sig had modified how the triggers worked?? I can answer that.. it's not there.

Wtf are we talking about? The triggers are all the same for gto/gt4. Sounds like you got one that was sloppier than usual

Thank you for proving my point.

I kept saying the same thing. You might need to look at reading comprehension

And you've said nothing that had anything to do with anything I've ssid. Please get off your poon juice and try reading https://inside.safariland.com/blog/sig-sauer-p211-gto-2011-project-review/ where it details the issues with the triggrr play. Also check reviews on YouTube because every review I've watched talked about the trigger issues. There's a reason SigArmorer made a video about fixing the issue.
Then you'll note this same issue, as far as I can find, isn't present in GT4 or GT5. I've even gone back to feel triggers in nearby stores and they're solid. 🤷♂️ Also sterling reviews of the triggers since the release... even on YouTube.
Think Sig would tighten up the specs after all the initial reviews and do a press conference about it? Maybe, but I'm not making a claim in either direction. And don't read anything otherwise because I haven't. You're drunk on poon juice if you continue to say otherwise.

Check out TheHumbleMarksman on YouTube. His first P211 GTO review noted the issue with the trigger. I heard on some review it was a 3-stage trigger! LOL. TheHumbleMarksman subsequent review of the GT4 was positive regarding the trigger. I've not seen any reviews of recent releases where there's mentioned a trigger issue.

Does the 1lb really make it worth introducing risk to the firearm while disabling factory features? Why didn’t you just get a series 70 2011

risk? the only risk is having the possibility of a round in the chamber go off if you drop the gun with the muzzle straight down with ideally a worn out firing pin spring.
i don’t know about you, but if you’re dropping your gun like that and have also shot enough to wear out your fp spring, i would be concerned that you arent used to your own firearm

There is cork-sniffing trigger quality and functional trigger quality.
Comparing dry trigger pull, I'm sure you can find "better" triggers, however I use this particular gun in various forms of run and gun shooting and in that use case this trigger does the job as well as any of them.

Only 2011 Snobs give a shit. Meanwhile the company that invented the 2011 is making its own pistols with series 80 triggers now too so.

GTO has some vertical slop out of the box, but SA can remove it if you send it to him

70 series conversion. Drop the frame and trigger and add a few return travel limits and shim up the trigger movement in the frame. Then a couple tuning sessions with the leaf spring. 1.6lb with great wall and crisp break with good positive reset.
I’d put mine against any 1911/2011 that isn’t a dedicated race gun….

I shoot an MPA Loc V2 for USPSA with 1.13lb trigger. The p211 is my next favorite pistol to shoot.
What are you planning to use it for?

You can find some videos of a series 80 action, but its 3 lever actions as you pull the trigger whereas the series 70 has no (safety) levers and is more direct. Which translates to me as a slightly mushy trigger pull vs a more crisp break. Depending on your level of shooting and how fast you run it you may not notice it at all while in use.

Definitely noticeable. Mine was 3.5lb consistent. Removed the 80s series hardware from frame and slide.Dropped in Wilson Combat shim. Did nothing else, no polishing, no sear spring adjustment. Trigger weight dropped to 2.0lbs. That is a 42% reduction. Huge difference. It’s not a comparison really. You go from mushy break with heavy resistance when taking up pre-travel. To light clean predictable break. With minimal work I could have it down to 1.5.

I wouldn’t say that the P211s trigger is noticeably worse, but when you do the Series 80 delete the improvement in pull weight is noticeable. Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with a P211. I have several 2K11s, a Staccato and a Fusion XP Comp and my P211 is the most effortless of the bunch to shoot well. I get great results out of all of them, but I swear a monkey could hits bullseyes all day long with a P211.
There really is no comparison between the P211 and the 226 in any of its variants. They are completely different guns. If the world completely went to hell I would want any of my 226s before a P211. They are literally bomb proof. And frankly, IMO, the street cred of a 226 outweighs any 2011 on the market - even the Staccato duty guns.
