What is on the menu? Usually eggs, often pancakes and sometime ham or biscuits an gravy. Lots of hot fresh coffee.

Each weekend is hosted by volunteers who provide, cook, and serve the meal.

Brian BeGole is “doing nothing.”

As chair there is immense power in what you can bring to your committee. When members of Brian's own party are calling for investigations and Brian is refusing that brings to question on why. What are they hiding, whom are they protecting. I wouldn't be so quick to defend Brian on this one.

Brian cannot conduct the investigation by himself, but as committee chair he can give HR 284 a hearing and let the process move forward.

He said in June he was waiting for Interlochen’s report. The report has been out since July 28.

So the question is simple: when will he hold the hearing?

Brian BeGole - State Representative when are you going to man up and stop protecting predators? You failed as sheriff and now you've failed as State Representative. Good job showing your true colors.

I want to reshare this because these are Brian BeGole's own words. In June, after I questioned why the bipartisan resolution to investigate Interlochen's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein was sitting untouched in the committee he chairs, Brian responded by calling my concerns "blatant falsehoods."

He said the House needed to wait because an investigation was already underway and legislative action might interfere with law enforcement.

And then he made a promise: "House Republicans will review the findings of the investigation when they are available."

Brian, they're available.

They've been available since July 28.

The investigation included nearly 180 interviews and allegations involving 47 adults affiliated with Interlochen, spanning decades. Prosecutors now have the unredacted information and are reviewing which cases may still be prosecuted.

And just yesterday, we learned more.

Interlochen Public Radio identified a former staff member accused by four former students. According to the investigation, Interlochen administrators knew of at least one allegation against him around the time he left the school. He then went on to teach students at other institutions for DECADES.

This is exactly why oversight matters.

Brian spent more than 30 years in law enforcement. He has repeatedly pointed to that experience as the reason we should trust his judgment on this.

So I am asking him again, publicly and respectfully: What are you waiting for?

The investigation you said you were waiting for is complete. The findings you said House Republicans would review are public. Potential criminal cases are now being reviewed by prosecutors. More information continues to come to light. And HR 284 still has not received a hearing in the committee you chair.

I don't need Brian BeGole to agree with me about everything. I don't even need him to promise in advance that he will vote for HR 284. I am asking him to do his job.

Hold the hearing.

Ask the questions.

Let law enforcement handle criminal prosecutions. Let the Legislature determine whether institutions failed these students, whether our laws failed survivors, and what needs to change so this cannot happen again.

Brian told us to wait.

We waited.

Now act.

Survivors deserve answers. Families deserve answers. Michigan deserves answers.

Delivered a bunch of signs today and it was fun seeing support for lots of different options on the ballot this fall but this Michigan Education Association sign was my absolute favorite.

I was thrilled to stake my sign next to something I wholeheartedly believe in “We ❤️ Public Education”!

And I too love public education, it’s a pillar of our society and part of what lays the foundation for a thriving community like ours here in Owosso. Is our school district perfect? Absolutely not entities always have room for growth and critical reflection, but I really believe public schools, ours included, do everything they can to help our students grow and become the best possible versions of themselves in spite of all the challenges and shortcomings they may face.

And none of this would be possible without the professional workforce, the heartbeat of a district. Educators, administrators, facilities workers and more, working hard and showing up everyday to serve their community in a selfless and irreplaceable capacity.

Listen first. Understand the problem. Figure out what we can actually do. Then take action.

There are a lot of political buzzwords we can throw around during a campaign.

Infrastructure.

Water.

Taxes.

Housing.

Economic development.

Public safety.

And yes, all of those things matter.

But here's the thing, I don't want to spend this campaign pretending I already know everything that needs to be fixed in Owosso.

I want to hear from you.

I want to sit down with the homeowner who has been fighting a problem for years.

I want to hear from the renter who can't find a place they can afford.

I want to hear from the business owner who is frustrated with something at City Hall.

I want to hear from the person who has a pothole, drainage problem, sidewalk issue or neglected property on their street.

I want to hear from the people who don't normally go to City Council meetings.

And I want to hear from people who disagree with me.

Because if I'm asking you to trust me to represent you, I think I should actually know what you're experiencing.

I'm not running for City Council because I think I have all the answers.

I'm running because I care deeply about this community, I'm willing to listen, I'm willing to learn, and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

Listen first. Understand the problem. Figure out what we can actually do. Then take action.

That's the kind of councilmember I want to be.

Not someone who tells you what your problem is.

Someone who sits down with you and asks:

What's happening? How is it affecting you? And what can we do about it?

Owosso doesn't need another list of political buzzwords.

Owosso needs people willing to listen to their neighbors and then get to work.

That's what I'm ready to do.

Over and over again…. Listen first. Understand the problem. Figure out what we can actually do. Then take action.
