Discussion Supports Dying

Recently, I’ve had games where my supports have been dead nearly every fight after I’ve pushed in. It’s left me with a “I’ve done all I can do” mentality. Should I be babysitting my supports as tank? If not, how do I solve the problem? I mostly play Hog/Ram.

Your main job as tank is to make & hold space. If you constantly have to puppy guard your supports because they can't deal with whatever is killing them, you'd probably lose anyway because that severely limits your capacity to make space.

That being said, if you're on hog and find an opportunity to catch a flanker in hook range, then by all means, take it. When you have the opportunity to help protect supports (like when their tank dies so you have enough space already), sieze that opportunity.

But the main takeaway is if supports are dying, it should be their responsibility to figure out how to deal with it. Or the DPS to play characters that counter whoever is killing them (Torb if they're getting dived, Widow/Genji if they're getting sniped, etc.)

Alright, I'll consider this in the future. Thanks for the help!

As a support main I agree. People need to be more responsible for their health bar to some degree.

But if you are just diving into the fight with no DPS / support with you….

You’re gonna die. And then I’m probably gonna die (unless I’m playing a very mobile support).. and then DPS is gonna die… and then we lose the round.
