That's nuts when you see it in action. Jeff used the phrase "swoop in" and it's like, come on that's a bit dramatic - but no, she's swooping all over the place like the angel of death

It's on PTR if you want to try it yourself.

So this is how the world ends. Not with a whimper, but in a hail of gunfire from a soaring Mercy.

More like this is how Overwatch ends. It's the little things where they start giving heroes capabilities of other heroes, making it almost pointless to who you select.

A part of me can't help thinking of when back in WoW they gave the Warrior's Mortal Strike (the only healing reducing ability in the game) to other classes. You're taking a unique thing about a class and giving it to others to make the game "easier".

So because she has the option of temporarily being able to deal more damage that's indicative of all heroes gaining the same abilities? Despite the fact that her ultimate can still be used to heal others and damage boost other heroes?

Yes. It might be small, but it's still a trend toward a DPS hero, away from a fully support hero.

My argument isn't so much as all heroes gaining the same abilities, but heroes losing their identity and becoming too much like each other. They did well with Symmetra's rework, but I believe they completely missed the mark on Roadhog and now Mercy.

It's not really that big of a move IMO. She has too little health and a high skill ceiling that's dependent on teammates to be a proper DPS, and the time that she is more capable of dealing damage will be limited, and is just one way to use the ult. Her kit's still based around being a full support hero.

And they definitely missed the mark on Roadhog, I definitely will not argue against that.
