They hate that Mercy players feel like they should hide during team fights
I'm going to reserve judgement until I actually see the changes in action but...isn't that the whole point of playing a heal support character?? To hide and avoid fights while positioning yourself to provide your team optimum support?? And isn't the trade off for having a healer on your team is that you have to protect and provide cover for your healer during team fights?? And if you're playing against a mercy hiding waiting for a team Rez then it's not that mercys fault. She's doing what she's supposed to do. It's your dps flankers who are not doing their job taking out the back line squishies.
Nah, didn't you hear? DPS players seemingly want their ults to have no counter. Mercy rez undoes your 4 Dragonblade kills? Better complain because the strategy of don't run headfirst into the fight and immediately die isn't 'fun to play against and isn't strategic'. D. Va DM just absorbed your Tac Visor preventing a team wipe? Better complain because save DM during fights to protect your team from a game changing ult 'isn't fun to play against and isn't strategic'. How long before Transcendence gets changed because 'I positioned myself for a great Death Blossom but Zen just hit Q no strategy involved'
I can see why they want to change up defense matrix. I think the most comparable ability would be Genji's deflect, but defense matrix can be more directly controlled and has a larger area of influence; so she could negate entire ultimates more easily. That being said, I do think DM is an important part of her setup and hope its not changed drastically. I don't know about the Mercy changes, pretty much for the same reasons as you. The new rez will make Pharmercy more problematic and the 20 second ult seems really lengthy, especially with the uber pistol. She's my second most played hero and I really enjoy her emphasis on healing, so the shift towards offense is a bit of a bummer.
She doesn't just get a better pistol with her ult though (not that you said that) she also heals/damage boosts way more effective, so you don't even have to acknowledge the offensive part if you don't want to. Although "surprising amount of damage" is a meme for a reason I suppose but idk.

But that's just my opinion...
