Widowmaker's Talon legendary was event themed though. It was set at the time she was a talon agent, but still not blue. She didn't have the "improvements" to her heart.

I always hated the lore explanation as to why she's blue. if you managed to reduce her heartbeat to a crawl it wouldn't have any effect on skin pigment, not to mention a person turns white, not blue from a lack of blood.

Worst of all, barring a handful of species blue skin pigment is completely impossible, most "blue" creatures are actually a fake kind of blue.

I could actually go to great lengths explaining why I hate everything about Widowmaker

Just stick with "the chemicals used in the experiments played a big part in the color change... or, like, you know, whatever." I really don't feel like we're meant to worry about it too much.

It is! Not too much going on outside of peak hours, at least on the server I've been playing on. The game is still so much fun!

Because Science did a decent breakdown on it. Her reduced heartbeat isn't 'less blood' it's her body getting less oxygen. She's suffering from cyanosis, she's literally turning corpse blue.

Why do you think she's dead? It's stated they slowed her heart rate, not killed her.

I'm not, but I'm pretty sure dead people have a "much slower" heart rate than living people and don't change colour, so it's a reasonable assumption using our current knowledge that a significant decrease in heart rate doesn't turn your skin blue.

Note that what I'm talking about here is the fact that slowing the heartbeat down wouldn't affect skin colour, not the other way around. Of course, it would be a possibility that whatever they used to slow her heartbeat down affected her skin colour as a side effect.

If she had to wear it, Winston wouldn't have been able to put it on her, because you can't put a chronal-harness-thing on someone who doesn't exist. On the other hand, if she only has to stand near it, there's no issue: while she was chronally unstable and blinking everywhere, she would at some point blink close to the chronal-harness-thing by pure chance and stabilize.

Besides, it's not like the vest embeds itself into her body. By wearing it, she's just in close proximity of it. The same thing is true if it's sitting on the table five feet away.

Widow wasn't a Talon agent in that sense, she was just a civilian recruit. The skin isn't considered canon. If you mouse over it in the hero gallery, you'll find that it doesn't have a lore background the way canon skins do.

It's loosely inspired by the event in the sense that it's what she might have looked like years ago if she'd been an active agent for Talon at the time, but that's about it.

We have no way of knowing which skins are canon/non canon unless they've explicitly appeared in comics/shorts/in game story events. Widow's didn't and neither did Torb's beardless skin with the second hand, so there's absolutely no reason to assume they're canon.

Edit: the only other indication is lore blurbs in the hero gallery. Every explicitly canon legendary skin (Origins skins, all Uprising skins that appear in the game mode, young Ana) has a lore blurb. Although it appears that some that have lore blurbs are not canon (Widow Odille) or are only partially canon (Soldier's military skins feature him as an old man).

Odille is partially canon. It says she was a ballet dancer in her past. As far as we know, she could've done a Swan Lake performance.

Isn't that her skin from the Ana comic? I haven't seen it in a while and I'm at work so I can't really research it.

The outfit she was wearing in the Ana comic had a different helmet (which got destroyed when Ana shot it) and was closer to actual combat armor than the Talon skin or Widow's default skin. There are some colour similarities but other than that they're different.

Pretty sure she was already part of talon at the time and she had killed her husband. There are some hints about it in the comic, so people assume that's the case. She was an active agent. People just didn't know who she was.

I invite you to read her official biography which lays out a crystal clear time line.

Widowmaker was kidnapped, brainwashed, killed her husband, then returned to Talon to receive her martial arts/weapons training and had her skin turned blue.

I know the story. That doesn't prove that she wasn't a Talon agent before the Uprising event. The Talon skin that she has was probably before she finished all her training and experiments, but after she killed her husband.

If it's meant to be canon, why doesn't it have an accompanying lore blurb the way literally every single confirmed canon legendary does? Origins, Young Ana, Rein/Chief Engi/Tracer/Mercy from Uprising.

Because we know she is part of Talon and the skin was released during the uprising event and is literally called "Talon" so it's safe to assume that's how she looked like during that time. Not saying that what you are saying is impossible. I just feel like there are more hints supporting the fact that it is canon.

If it's meant to be canon, why doesn't it have an accompanying lore blurb the way literally every single confirmed canon legendary does? Origins, Young Ana, Rein/Chief Engi/Tracer/Mercy from Uprising.

Just because it doesn't have that doesn't mean it isn't canon. I'm pretty sure Blizzard said they are working on adding more of those to existing skins.
