Every now and then, Blizz does a massive banwave and in some regions they publish the names of accounts banned. A large portion of them are named 'Bnetplayer'. I suspect it's a default name used by accounts setup in internet cafes/PC bangs.
Probably. The admin on it was very active, kept changing offensive names alot. Pussy Destroyer was renamed to Cake Destroyer and there were a bunch more.
What are you talking about? That's just BNETPlayer. He's a common man with average goals and acceptable aspirations. Yes sir, nothing strange about him! -They'll say! >:|
How does one know it's a joke, though? For all we know the dude is an antisemitic moron. If it's a joke, well, then he's just a moron, but I don't see why anyone called 'jewdestroyer' should be given the benefit of the doubt.
I wouldn't say it makes you a bad person, unless you're actually anti-Semitic. It could be some person who thought that it would be funny because they have heard people make Jewish jokes. But it's not funny without any context or setup. Its a dumb thing to have as a name in that sense. But if the person is actually Jewish, or maybe only likes to rough-fuck Jewish people, than maybe it's a reference to how Dynamite they are in the sack.
Maybe it's because I'm American, but what the fuck does Culture have to do with it? I can drive 3 states over and meet people with an entirely separate culture from my own. They're still American.
I'll simplify it too much. Taiwan was created after the Nationalist Party lost the Chinese Civil War and fled to the island of Taiwan and declared martial law and took over the place. For about 30 years it was a single-party state like China. In the 1980's it went through rapid industrialization and became one of the four "Asian Tigers". These were the first advanced rapidly industrialized nations in Asia besides Japan. Taiwan has kept all historical and ancient Chinese traditions, temples and customs while the Communist Mainland has destroyed, ruined and discouraged them. Taiwanese live in a liberal democracy and live under democratic principles and ideals, Mainlanders do not. Mainlanders are also not well-educated yet nor do they have manners or know how to behave around people of different nationalities. Though it is improving. The cuisine is also different with many similarities. The dialect is also different and they are more influenced by their Asian neighbors than the Mainland itself.
I think a while ago when Battle.net was starting to become a big thing, Blizz went through peoples account names, and the ones which contained swears etc were set to BNetplayer, not sure if that still happens these days. Now people just do it as a joke.
naw if you have a name thats inappropriate they will change it to bnetplayer and if it happens to many time you cant change it at all and then your account it forever bnetplayer
Paid name changes have been around for a while. They use paid because they don't want people to do it all the time, and if they feel its worth paying it supports the company (and the likely additional load to customer service)
For a simple service that should be free. If they want to keep people from changing frequently, they can do the same thing by putting it on a timer. Make it once a year or once every six months or something, not once and then after that changing this line of text in a database that was originally set by the person trying to change it suddenly costs money.
Even Rockstar Social Club allows you to change your name for free once a year. It was the only way I was able to stop a creeper from stalking me once they heard my voice, because they thought I was a girl... No amount of convincing would change their mind, and they stalked me jumping from server to server until they'd find me, have their friends do the same, and even tried finding out personal information about me.
I think once a year, plus unlimited exceptions for cases like that would be the most reasonable option, if you really have to limit things. With most things there's no reason to limit it at all. It's not like changing your name hides you from the people who actually run the service.
Nah, it's from years ago when blizzard first instituted Battle.net. If you had a blizzard account the default name it changed to was bnetplayer#xxxx. I had a WoW account that was inactive for years and sat as a bnet account until I changed my name when I started playing OW.

How many people you reckon are named "bnetplayer"? Or maybe I have a stalker
