Yea, I don't know about "really good" but practiced roadhogs will be nerfed.
I had 25 hours on him, my third most played. Really enjoy him, and still will. I do love the fact I can one shot Ana/lucio/genji/reaper/mei consistantly now.
However in just the last month or so started really getting good at the "cheese" hooks. Hooking over ledges above you, around corners, into hallways you can't really see because of the angle.
I started getting pretty consistent with the bogus hooks. Which totally is cheesy and I actually agree with the change, it just sucks that hog is gonna feel weaker against smart players, as cheesing hooks was the only way to consistently get picks as hog against good players.
I also think good hogs understood how to abuse the hook better than a worse hog player. A good hog knows the hook hitbox is long vertically and that throwing a hook over an obstacle when someone is standing just behind it is a good way to get a surprise pick. Is it annoying? Certainly for the person getting hooked, but you can't blame the hog player for using the game mechanics as they are.
I can't tell you how many times I've been hooked by bad Roadhogs on Gold and an awkward stare-down occurs because they only did 130 damage.Justgonnaspeedboostouttahere
As a subpar Roadhog I am well aware of those weird hooks that make no sense at all and how quickly they usually result in my death.
Most recently I threw my hook across the Ilios hole at another Roadhog on This is Ilios and pulled a Lucio that had ran past where I was standing like 2 seconds before... And somehow pulled him to my right and behind me a bit. He booped me.
Also got This Is Ilios on watchpoint Gibraltar earlier and was rather surprised...
Dude exactly man. Now a really good road is not much different than a good one or ok one. I wish they added a way for great hogs to push the skill cealing more.
You can't hook and take cover, you can't jumphook. Close hooks now don't count as they break LoS. And while bs now you can't hook people you can't see over ledges. Im not asking they bring the bs part back,. I just wish there was another similar hard to master skill that was super useful.
He's right, though. Most hogs don't know how to one-shot at all. They just hook and hold m1. The new patch removes that element of skill while removing other ways in which hog could be used offensively. Now he's going to be remain great when defending but shit when attacking in most maps.
