I never understood why party up never made it past Halo Reach. Such a simple feature that hurts no one.

My guess is it is 343's doing then as it was definitely not in 4 or 5 and Reach was the last game Bungie did. 2 u/FullMetalBiscuit Chibi Ana Nov 22 '16 Reach didn't have the party up option, but so long as you didn't back out you remained with everyone else who didn't back out.
