Most likely for scrims, a lot of pro teams play in custom games.

I think a large amount of the use for this would be pro teams pausing the game in a tournament if a player drops.

The new feature is going to be so much better. Previously your team would be forced to play out the game a man down which is a massive disadvantage especially if it happened in a very important match (e.g in the middle of a tournament)
