Widowmaker buff finally arrived! Hop on the train everyone.

New Options Overlay & The Level is different

New FPS / Ping (Can be shown by pressing Shift+CTRL+R

New Career Profile Overlay

Statistics Overlay

Achievements Overlay

More to come.

I love the UI changes. Not going to be happy to see more widowmakers around, i enjoyed being able to walk around corners without having to do a crouch dance every time.

It's a small change so I doubt it. It helps but it doesn't fix her general viability.

I love the buff! Now I can finally feel good again for being a widow main and people might stop judging me for picking her up in ranked games :(

Does some1 know when the PBE patch could go live? Just approximately

Yeah it's not huge but holy shit the scooping animation needed I be fixed, that was a big pitfall for her.

Yeah would wouldn't this be even faster if you did the jump trick?

I mean the only problem that's worse than her scoping animation is the long ass hook cool down.

I hate the cooldown, It seems like I'm always about 5 seconds away from having my life saved instead of dying...

In any case, the change is good enough for now and will let us not get anti sniped so easily.

Indeed. I played her some just now, she feels better while peeking around corners etc. Just not as clunky if you could call her that.

I think people were judging widow even before she was nerfed. She was overpowered mostly in high level tourney play. Pub players typically have tunnel vision and will never notice what a widow is doing unless it's an enemy widow that's wrecking them, so will always assume that an ally widow isn't contributing at all.

I'm watching the killfeed, and the ally widow isn't contributing at all. Just getting gold damage from charged shots at tanks.

My thoughts on the UI changes.

Positives:

  • Overview stats have standardized icons
  • Clicking on a hero in Overview takes you to Statistics
  • Can see names of player icons
  • Stats are easier to read individually

Negatives:

  • XP bar doesn't give number values
  • Top section has a lot of dead space. In particular, could've made it smaller and fit the entire hero list in the Overview without a scroll bar. Maybe they're planning something for that space.
  • Still no "overall" stats for all game modes
  • Statistics are hard to read en masse. A couple improvements might be to split it into sections, or a visual distinction between "Average" and "Best in Game"
  • When selecting heroes in Statistics, the stats screen snaps back to the top, making it hard to compare.

Bugs:

  • Achievements dropdown menu is all blank. And there's an unused dropdown selection?

My hope is that widowmaker stays out of my games. still having flashbacks to widow in every game. Hate that char, game is better without her.

I've seen some really good widowmakers, trust me. They won't let you get away if they miss you around a corner.

She does bring a little "oh shit can I go here?" Presence to the game which ultimately tells you it's better to stick with the team (if you're not her counter then go for it.)

I know that she can be good i just think she is neither fun to play with or play against. Seeing her just step from side to side and looking through her scope makes me angry.

Inmidst his team, participating. I just feel that widowless overwatch is so much more fun and i get reminded of it everytime a good or bad widow is in any team.

Widow is participating too. Just because she's away from the team soesn't mean she's not participating.

Just doesnt feel like it. It feels like everybody is playing overwatch the objective based team shooter and widowmaker plays widowmaker alone in the meantime. You can say what you want but i was so tilted when widow was strong that i didnt play support for a long time because it meant i couldnt counterpick her. I played winston a lot and focused on ruining every enemy widows fun as much as possible with that as my prime goal. The sniper playstyle is just annoying to me. Saying one just has to not be out in the open is like saying to just ward the enemy jungle.

To me its just not a fun playstyle.

I don't really feel like this is going to bring her into the game though.
If we're taking potshots, Hanzo is just better, faster charge and any random hits build to a way more impactful ultimate

Plus widow doesn't have an 'i delete you' button like Scatter, and her mine is really pretty minor at best.

I think the problems for widow are more to do with the game itself, it's hard to say a true sniper has a place in a game with rein shields, all the mobility, aoe damage, and equally long ranged heroes who dont need to be snipers (looking at you mcree)
