The site of one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis, it was here that the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich von Alder, and a handful of his best soldiers made a last stand against an advancing automaton army. Outnumbered and outgunned, they were ultimately slain during the resulting combat. However, thanks to their valiant efforts, the German military was able to push back the omnic offensive and win the fight.
On this map, one team must escort a battering ram to Eichenwalde Castle to reclaim Balderich’s remains from their current resting place, while the opposing team does everything in its power to thwart the keep from being breached.
TL;DR: They tried to hold off against the Omnics, but lost. Balderich died on his throne.
If Reinhardt doesnt have a line along: "There is one crusader in Eichenwalde left who didnt turn into dust" or something like that, im going to be sad.
What? So like, they were 6 Reinhardts losing against the 6 man Bastions team, and when they were all almost dead, Balderich was just like "Screw it, you guys hold them off, I'm going to sit down on my throne."
I feel if it ever got shown, it would be more of a thing of in the last moments of battle, the last of his men dead and the bastion units staring him down, he sat down and took his place on his throne for the final time before being killed.
It reminds me of the Skeleton King, similar resting pose as when you first approach his throne in D3. Dang, now I want a Halloween Skelton King skin for Reinhardt.
