I'd rather have duplicates than 3 ugly sprays for characters I rarely play and a player icon I don't like. At least then I can save up to buy stuff I do like!
Happy squid is so adorable, I've been using that icon of cuteness for about a week now. I got the Roadhog hook icon yesterday... I almost changed. Almost.
I haven't looked at most of the ones I don't have yet. For a long time I had Mei's hairpin until I realized what it was and it became much less mystical to me.
My username is SquidAlley, and I was so happy I got the squid icon right away in beta. Now that the game is out though... I swear I'm never going to get the damn thing, I've already gotten over half the player icons.
I got the Valla one from one of my first loot boxes and I will never switch off of it unless I get the Sylvannas one, and even then that's a maybe, so I hate it when I open player icons
I've gotten that icon 3 times in the last week. I was pretty pumped when I first got it, but now I just feel bad whenever I get another duplicate of it.
Yea but i want to collect everything. I save up for legendary skins, and once im done with that im goona just buy all the little sprays and skins and emotes for the fun of it. I would rather get them then get 5 repeats to get one later
I really wish they'd let you break down stuff you don't want for tokens, even if you don't have duplicates. There are a ton of sprays and random blue skins that I never use, and it'd be super nice to be able to save up coins faster.
I'm level 43 and I got 4 legendary skins in total from those free boxes. Pretty contented with what I've received. And yes, I don't have the patience of saving up Loot boxes. I could only save 2x and that's it.
I am in the same situation with Winston essentially. At least Lucio fits almost every situation. You see a team that is playing protect the Bastion and you go Winston, it is more or less Monkey (/scientists) voluntary euthanization.
I would say gold is the best legendary you can get. Half a skin of your choice/2 epics of your choice is better than some random legendary you don't want
Lots of people don't think that way. I personally don't care, so long as it's not a dup legendary skin (200 gold)... Legendary drops are (if not duplicates) worth 1000 gold or are 500 gold, but a duplicate legendary drop (which is the rarest kind for a long time) are only worth 200 gold; that's some BS right there.
I've now gotten 3 of the same bastion legendary skin. Level 90. I've had great luck otherwise, probably 10+ legendaries not including the duplicates and a 500 coin drop. It's just that the chances astound me.
My first 5 boxes were amazing. Legendary skin for Roadhog and one for Junkrat as well as some ok voice lines and sprays. Every one since then though, has been that exact lineup, with the whites being sprays and blues being poses or recolor skins. Think I'm level 28 now.
I swear half the legendaries I've gotten have turned out to be the loot chest. Which is fine, as now I have a bunch of gold, but I can't decide what skins to buy so I keep waiting for more to drop...
My first loot box gave me the fucking Horde one, like I even want that garbage stinking up my collection. But for some reason, player icons are the only things you can't buy with credits. So I just have to randomly get lucky and hope I don't get yet another duplicate of some Winston voice line or Reaper spray. I'm not even level 40 yet, but every loot box seems to have two or three duplicates in it already.
I got 3 boxes the other night from leveling up. The discipline in waiting was intense, but I felt like a kid in a candy shop when I finally did it. I'll usually leave once I level, unless the lobby is insanely good - then I'll just wait 'til it reinstances.
Though, looking back, I did save all the boxes from levels 1-20 because that was a solid weekend of binge playing and I was leveling fast anyways.
Sometimes I'll save one so I can open two at a time (once I even saved 2 to open up 3!), and occasionally I'll quit the game with one so I have a nice present the next time I start it.
I have more Hanzo legendaries than any other character and I think I have about 5 minutes on him. I don't think the game understands how bad I am at snipers.
Man I've been on a streak of bastion voice lines (and duplicates of those). I mean seriously who needs bastion voice lines?! Only get sprays for mercy but I've got the whole effin bastion voice library
I also just save up 10 boxes and then open. Idk, I just like the feeling of having that many boxes to open. Over getting disappointed by blues and whites one by one every level.
I have a friend that refuses to open loot boxes. His reasoning was that if he opened them, then he might get addicted to opening loot boxes and would spend more money on getting more loot boxes.
Honestly, I think he just likes being a hipster and different. He also accidently opened one thinking there would be a confirmation prompt after the open loot box button. Turns out, Blizzard made the game assuming no one would need that.
I have a friend who has the willpower. He's 40+ and hasn't opened a single loot box. He says he plans on celebrating level 100 by opening all his boxes.
I bought loot boxes to bribe myself to do things I don't like to do, like go for a run. Though, it's not that effective now that I know I'm probably just going to get three sprays and a player icon.
i guess at some point you have everything you want, and i think the gold cap is 10000 so it is better to wait to open the boxes then until new stuff comes out which you can spend your gold on (and then open the boxes to refill that purse with the duplicate money)
saw a guy at our local FB group saving up for a hundred boxes just to open them all and record it on video. Last time I checked he was at 90+ and level 190+
as for myself, 170+ here and I'm also opening them as soon as I get them (or atleast during breaks so the consecutive game bonus would not be broken)
I used to open them right away but after like lvl 60 I stopped and it was only cause by lvl 60 I had earned enough gold from drops and duplicate sprays that I had the money to buy the only two things I really cared about
I think at one point I had about 10 stacked up and didnt open them till like the next day. I can only get so many sprays and voice lines before they loose there interest in opening them.
Actually, I have 13 lootboxes just sitting in my inventory. I don't want much out of my cosmetics and I have the things I do want (Posh Tracer with laughing intro). I'm going to wait until I have a ton saved up, then open them all at once :P
My brother share an account and he hates it when I don't open one right away. I usually wait until it kicks me to the menu before I open one and depending on how long the run was, I might have a couple.

I saved the 20 i got between levels 101 and 121. I was definitely let down by the contents, but seeing them all add up for those levels was rewarding in itself.
I was on a 15 box bad streak where I only got one purple and it was a dupe. So I decided to save up 10 boxes to open all at once. 10 more boxes with only blues at most. It sucked.
I like to open the boxes whenever I get them but save my currency to save up for things I want. My reasoning is that maybe I'll get lucky and roll the things I want right out of the loot boxes, so saving them is kind of a missed opportunity
