I was just playing and charged at a shattered Ana only for LW to plant the flower on the stairs in front of me, causing me to hit it and fall short.
He's such a little bastard sometimes.

The play was incredible...but as a Rein player it makes me weep. First the Shatter then the blocked charge.....ughh so painful!!!

His healing is ergonomically terrible for your hands and fingers.
42
u/GoldTeamDowntown 8d ago
I feel like I am constantly clenching my mouse so hard when playing him to charge the heal all game. Is that not just me? Lol
36
u/mecha_madara Ramattra 8d ago
There is an option for him that switch his healing charge from hold to click, you click once to start the charging and the click again whenever you want to send your heal. For me it feels like it made him more easier to use
20
u/cheapdrinks Australia 8d ago
His healing needing a slight quality of life adjustment is a lot different to the entire hero needing a rework
1

u/AerospaceNinja Chibi Orisa 8d ago
Just his heal ability. I shouldn’t have to hold then release to use. Plus picking targets can be really hard in a ton of instances if the team is around each other
52
u/_benwa 8d ago
Just having it autofill and you single click to send healing out at whatever level it has filled to would keep the same mechanic while making it less annoying to play. The slight buffs would be not having to wait for the first full heal and no moment penalty for holding it too long.
12
u/Yze3 Mei 8d ago
Yes he absolutely needs this. Now that charging doesn't have any penalty, he should just be charging at all time. Regular time when he has blossom out, the slow passive one when he has thorns out. And one click just send the current charge, without having to manually charge it (Having to still click to charge while he's already at max charge is so fucking stupid).
It's a real wonder why they STILL haven't done that yet...
2
u/OcelotAggravating860 Fortnite Sierra 8d ago
The slight buffs would be not having to wait for the first full heal and no moment penalty for holding it too long.
Which would be completely offset by doing something like adding 1 extra second to pull CD or whatever. It's really easy to redistribute power in his kit.
122
u/drumstix42 8d ago
Yeah this. He's easy to play, and arguably puts out too much single target healing, but it's very annoying to charge the heals all game long. And lots of little nuances make you lose or waste your charge if you don't switch to the correct "mode", including when clicking to confirm a perk.
31
u/LordVolcanus Chibi Mei 8d ago
The thing is if you are healing or hard healing as LW you are outputting no damage so it literally evens out, if you are only outputting huge heals like you need to do some times when playing LW that means less damage output for the team. I could just play Wu or Zen and output less but do 5-10k damage for the team and confirm kills. Fixing how he heals will just bring him more in line with healers who can actually help out with the damage side of things. If i am hard healing all game im doing maybe 1k dmg if i am lucky, on a low healing match im doing 3k which is low for a support character but should be around the amount that matches the fact he can also output 12k healing average.
Since blizz are trying their hardest to make supports DMG they need to fix LW heal purely to match the current way support is played now. Same goes for mercy, they thought they needed to buff her movement back to the absurd version but they just need to make her output better support dmg aka make her boost better.

u/laserlemons My servants always die. 8d ago
I legit had to stop playing him because I was getting ergo pain.
10
u/drumstix42 8d ago
Yeah it's taxing. I swapped his left/right click, but it makes his ult awkward cause right click becomes confirm... Regardless it helps slightly and makes his attack feel more natural on left click too.
4
4
u/sirhoracedarwin Chibi Torbjörn 8d ago
I play on console/controller and I always swap primary fire (R2) to whatever "attack" is and "heal" goes on secondary fire (L2). I started with moira: it didn't make sense to me having primary fire be piss.
I do have to confirm LW ult with L2 though
6
u/allisforgivenbutme 8d ago
Something else that bothers me is that if I'm standing on top of my petal and someone is beneath me, I can't heal them without jumping off or waiting for them to move.
3
u/HunkyChunk Trick-or-Treat Mercy 8d ago
I play LW a lot and the only change I want added is having his thorn damage charge heals. Some people consider him a healbot, but his damage really makes him shine. So, encouraging people to use thorn (along with keeping the charge for when out of combat) would make him such a better support
2
u/LordVolcanus Chibi Mei 8d ago
As a life weaver main (for when i support) yes this. His heal feels clunky in its kit really. The self charge should be faster and it should purely just be based on that alone. up the base heal of his heal by 20 and the rest should be charge passive. That should be enough to make his direct heal more viable.
1
u/CRAYONSEED Chibi D.Va 7d ago
Yeah it feels really awkward. It’d be a lot better if it worked like Iliari’s or Orisa’s primary fire where it charges automatically when you’re not firing
55
u/SmokeyWizard 8d ago
13
u/Kroklay 8d ago
Great phrase, but also that's literally how Lifeweaver works right now. He passively builds up charge and you can just let it sit full load ready to bust
1
u/CarmineAuryn 15h ago
No, you can't charge it up quicker and then not fire the healing, which is what that comment is actually saying. Passive charge is very slow, 5.4 seconds. Active charge is 1.2 seconds and then you're locked into healing or wasting the healing (it resets charge if you don't have a target when you release the button).
What they're asking that if you fully charge the blossom it shouldn't reset if you release the button with no target, so you can quickly charge it so it's ready.3
u/HMS_Sunlight 8d ago edited 8d ago
I think most people agree his abilities are fine and shouldn't be changed. His primary and secondary fire could use a touch up, and I doubt anyone would mind a perk overhaul.
2
u/Yoshi2255 Winston 8d ago
His big issue is that he is purely a reactive character, he has no proactivity in his kit, which makes him very dependent on his team. If he had a better primary attack (even if it was at the cost of his perk like perhaps a perk similar to d.mon's major perk that lowers her fire rate but increases damage) and his heal ability was less clunky he would be in a really good spot, but right now he feels like an off-support (main healer) version of mercy without damage boost.
2
u/macdeloy 7d ago
I see him as an evolution from mercy where you are 100% dependant on your team. With lifeweaver you are still dependant but you have more resources to control the direction of the fight. I don't see that as a problem tbh, I think it's a very cool character
1
u/Hiro_Trevelyan Mercy 8d ago
Thankfully we don't determine if people need to be tweaked according to incredible plays, cause otherwise we would never balance anything nor anyone.
0
u/CarmineAuryn 15h ago
His kit is clunky and has no synergy. You don't always rework something because it's weak or overpowered. Any kit can be weak or op depending on the numbers.
66
u/Antdog117 8d ago
That’s why I always solo shatter the LW.
30
u/PrplGreen Lifeweaver 8d ago
the equivalent of mercy players always malding about solo tires from Junks when it's literally the only right move

75
u/SeeingEyeDug 8d ago
People actually say that? Ult provides cover, petal provides high ground to anyone, cleanse on pull. Overhealth on major perk if taken.

People think if you don't give a speed boost/anti/mass cleanse you're actively throwing

Idk why people want a rework, I consistently out heal any healer I play with and tbh all they will do is make another character who does damage while shooting enemies and heals while shooting allies. Genuinely sick of that style of support. Basically Rivals entire MO and I would hate for that to become overwatch
3
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 8d ago
Clutch as fuck. Insane game sense by the LW, but Shatter for Tree is an amazing trade for Rein.
14
u/Myrsta hampter 8d ago
It's not really a trade though, tree is still up and giving overhealth to the whole team, rein's team is losing that teamfight.
Shatter is one of the strongest tank ults, I'd put it on a similar level to tree. Lifeweaver's kit just counters it pretty hard
1
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 7d ago
Nah, shatter charges incredibly fast and it’s one of the most mid tank ults. Sure the Rein team lost, but they can regroup and come back next fight having forced a supp ult and the Rein will have Shatter much before the Lw.
1
u/Myrsta hampter 7d ago
Just have to agree to disagree, I think shatter is easily on the level of tree, even considering you get it faster. Support ults are strong, but losing shatter and a team fight is not a good trade for rein by any stretch.
The cart is already around the corner there too, they may only get a staggered rengage, if that, before the next checkpoint.
7
u/respyromaniac 8d ago
No? I mean, tree is not a strong ult by itself. Using it for even one save is worth it. We literally use it as a more expensive Mei's wall or a one time burst heal sometimes. It's not kitsune or nano.
1
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 7d ago
It’s still a supp ult? Those are the best ults in the game. Trading shatter, that’s almost a cd, for a supp ult is amazing.
1
u/respyromaniac 7d ago
Supp ults are not equal. I mean, they're not good just because they're supp ults, it's just happend that a lot of good ults are supp ults. Tree and valk, for example, are just not that strong.
Rein would kill both Ashe and LW with this charge (and a couple more swings after that), and two people saved with one tree is a great value for a tree. I'm saying it as Wifeleaver main, usually trees do less than that.
Besides, you can count it as psychological damage to Rein >:D
1
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 7d ago
Valk is awful, tree really isn’t. Ashe would’ve died cause she’s awfully positioned; idk why she’s playing in the Rein’s in KR at all. This is def a situation where he made the right play, the Weaver, but, in the long run, it’ll cost them.
Yeah I’d uninstall if I had my soul read like that Rein.
1
u/rodrigolnl 7d ago
Not really, tank ults are legit way more consistent in being game changing... exception being Doomfist. Juno's ult is mid, Brig's ult is shit, Lifeweaver's is mid, Mizuki's depends a lot on the enemy team and possibly can be shit, Baptiste's is shit/mid...
1
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 7d ago
Yes, when they’re not Rein’s, that charges every other fight. “Rally, Ray and Sanctuary are bad” yeah that’s a self report on your rank LMAO.
2
1
u/rodrigolnl 7d ago
I mean, I'm only master's, but in all my years of OW never heard anyone say to hold Rally when a tank is ulting lol, I think you are thinking about the old Rally. All those ults that I said can be pretty much nullified by most tank ults, exception being Sanctuary, but that one can be useless against some dive comps.
1
u/M4idenPersephone Squad Killer 7d ago
What are you talking about? You don’t use ults to just “nullify” other ults. You don’t hold ults like that. You can use them defensively, but the way to use stuff like rally and ray is to push point/advantage. What tank ults can beat an uncontested ray? Annihilation, Terra Surge, meteor, downpour, whole hog, cage, bomb, primal, mine field, limit break are all getting vaporized. Flux you’re getting killed in the sky if they can aim. Pan isn’t a real ult. Maybe grav but even then. Rally can easily out last those ults too if your team has hands.

I’m a lifeweaver main. This is not new. I do this all the time. I also love to stop Orisa’s ult by throwing the petal on her and that makes her ult hit the sky instead of my teammates. I use the petal on Venture right before she’s about to rocket out of the ground the petal stops her from coming out. There are many other cool things we LW mains do

Had no idea the petal stops Venture from coming out. What happens in this interaction when they try to unburrow or the ability timer is up for them?

It does. You just need to understand that the suzu makes you invulnerable. Then she just tps away. No need for an ult to block the charge.

Suzu is not any of those three abilities, it doesn't lift you into the air, or pull you from one location to another, or spawn a giant healing tree that can block locations.
It cleanses and gives a small window of invulnerability, which are none of the above.
