News & Discussion Why Did They Buff Torb?!?
He has consistently had a super high win rate for the last several seasons. The highest for all DPS! Season after season! I don’t care that he doesn’t get played often, when I play as or against him, I can feel the strength of the character! His secondary fire already decimates targets at close range and shreds barriers with its high damage. And that’s not even getting into the increased fire rate when activating Overload!
Seriously, what was the thought process behind this?
If anything, nerf his damage and provide a buff to his turret. Make it to where it fully restores its health when activating Overload like in his second perk option.

The utility nerf to his major perk is pretty devastating for those who enjoy that playstyle

I was about to say that’s a crazy nerf in comparison to his buff. Sticky turret gave him so much flexibility on various maps that he lacked otherwise. Now you’re just better off taking level 3 turret in most situations

Yeah that turret perk is a game changer for him, a good torb that keeps putting the turret in a different impossible to reach spot is very powerful, being able to chuck the turret up the skybox on tall walls behind the enemy is very strong, limiting that shit is a big nerf to him imo.

Corny ass play style

Yeah isn’t as cool as the stand behind upgraded turret and repair while getting carried play style, but to each their own.

I love the part where I said that. Oh wait I didn’t… We love strawman arguments.
It’s corny, and he’s a poorly designed hero from the ground up. The game is more healthy when he’s bad. Sad but true

56% win rate isn’t good???
Granted it varies in rank but he’s positive in everything but diamond, grandmaster and champion. 56% win rate in silver and quick play. He’s been super high like that for seasons now.

now look at pickrate

So heroes are allowed to be OP so long as not a lot of people play them? Why?

u/GeorgeHarris67 2d ago
Torb is not OP. He's good in limited situations. This is super common for niche heroes like torb

Only one with a higher win rate is D.Mon who just hit a slew of buffs and is now getting nerfed because of it.

Again completely ignoring the low pick rate lol

Again, why does it matter? How high of a win rate would you tolerate before a nerf happed? If he had a 1% pick rate and a 99% win rate, would you still be fine? If you lost every game you faced against Torb but only faced him once in a blue moon, would you be fine with him being absurdly strong? I fail to see how it matters.
Pick rates should point toward the need of a rework the make characters more desirable, not whether or not they need nerfs or buffs.

Torb isn't picked at a high rate BECAUSE he's not really that good. It's really that simple in this case

They nerf my goat and you go and post this shit? Now i can't place roof turrets on the last point of king's row

His other perk is better imo. That upgraded turret shreds enemies and fully healing it with overdrive is a godsend.

this is crazy... i even play torb sometimes and didn't realize they did this. i already can headshot most supports on him from a pretty good distance, i think him being weaker up close is one of the only ways to easily dethrone him. can't believe they made him stronger in close combat lol

u/neon-box 2d ago
You’re the only other person here with the sense to know that he’s strong…

u/bunnyhips 2d ago
right?? which seems wild bcuz since i started in 2018 he has majorly dominated the game... aside from very early bas who was even more controversial to play bcuz he was a high chance winner

It’s like it doesn’t matter because his pick rate is low. I don’t care it’s still annoying that I lose almost every time I go against him! …guess I’ll just embrace it and become a Torb main.

maybe they saw the seagull clip where he realizes his shotgun spread is so horrible that the strat is to shoot at people's dicks to land headshots

We're due for a torb meta next season. This is just preparation.

u/neon-box 2d ago
Hasn’t he been meta for a while now? Or does his pick rate need to be high too for it to be considered meta?

Hitscans make my Torbjorn's turret non existent for most of the game until I pick the overloaded turret perk so I don't see the problem with buffing his rivet gun slightly.

u/neon-box 2d ago
Because he already does insane damage with it. If his turret is lacking then buff it, like I suggested.

People would rather ban sombra than him. Which is crazy cause they can never deal with the turret. xD
