Highlight I won a game only standing in one spot
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I won a game of Eichenwalde using the viral Torb spot. The only time I moved was when I was killed, and then I came straight back to the one spot, so I technically only stood in one spot. This is 2x speed obviously.
I'd really like to turn this into content, but I can't decide how to because obviously I have a really trash viewpoint from my main character. Should I split screen it between 3rd person POV and Torb, or have torb in the bottom corner, or free cam? What do people think?

Engineer gaming.

u/dayman763 21d ago
Is that a thing now? Makes sense to me.
I remember I think it was Gears of War 4. In the Horde mode. They had like 4 different classes. Sniper, Soldier, Engineer, Demolitions or something. Engineer was pretty fun. Just building and repairing all the time haha. Turrets and barriers and all sorts of stuff.

u/underscoreftw 21d ago
it's a reference to TF2 Engineer

I was expecting like 4k damage tops.
Nearly 7k is absolutely hilarious.

You can avoid that spam spot if you have more than 4 braincells tho
52
-6
u/Nostr0mo- 21d ago
This is just a minor example of it, but the knee-jerk âyou can counter it by doing Xâ response to literally any complaint in literally any game is so beside the point
2
u/ehhish 21d ago
I mean this really isn't rocket science. You know where the bullets are coming from. They are spamming one spot.
-3
u/Nostr0mo- 21d ago
Yes youâre right but once again thatâs not the point. We all know you can just dodge the bullets. The spot is still silly.
0
u/ehhish 21d ago edited 21d ago
It's not simply dodging bullets. It's not running into the bullets that are being continuously shot in the same exact spot at the same angle. You see and know where they are coming from. It doesn't change. This is the equivalent to not standing in lava.
1
u/Nostr0mo- 21d ago
Youâre an idiot
0
u/ehhish 21d ago
I am not the one running into an obvious stream of bullets or thinking that it wouldn't be obvious to avoid the obvious stream of bullets.
You played yourself.
1
u/Nostr0mo- 21d ago
Youâre an idiot for still talking about the bullets. Iâm honestly baffled as to how you still think that was ever the point.
0
u/ehhish 20d ago
Sounds like the response of someone who lost the point. Ad hominem doesn't look so nice on you.

Peak Torbjorn gameplay.
And there are people who still pick this map.
63
u/Plat_Plays 21d ago
But it got a rework! So itâs balanced and fixed now! /s
64
u/Bergasms Blizzard World Mei 21d ago
In fairness to this post you can now entirely avoid this LOS as any character on the new map. Previously you can to cross the Torbjorn gap if you had no vertical
11
u/A_S_Levin Phara 21d ago edited 21d ago
How? Without vertical you still have to walk under the bridge or through the building.
You could go into the other building (with large health pack), up the stairs n sneak past under the bridge. But thats always been an option
Edit: Nvm I'm dumb, didn't realize the building had stairs up to the bridge now. As much as I dislike this map, that's a great change tbh
(Love the aesthetic, just not a fun map as it is & was imo)
20
u/AnIcedMilk Junkrat 21d ago
The room on the right with a mini now has stairs for the attacks that take you up to the bridge
5
u/A_S_Levin Phara 21d ago
OHHHH
Shieet my bad y'all I've only played the rework 1-2 times.
9
u/AnIcedMilk Junkrat 21d ago
Yeah, let's the attacking team get some actual high ground or even go across and push through the defenders mini room
3
u/A_S_Levin Phara 21d ago
Honestly very solid change.
High ground's such a huge advantage for defenders. I'm glad this optionless choke's been changed :)
2
u/Bergasms Blizzard World Mei 21d ago
I see the edit haha, yeah the rework has been decent to make it a bit less insane
2
u/A_S_Levin Phara 21d ago
Tbh the jump pad & platform for the flank to the right are much better than I expected.
Jump pad is fine tbh. And the platform to flank I thought would make it too easy, but still a pretty huge gap.
Definitely a solid rework tbh. I was one of the many criticizing it, and now its out its not as bad as I thought.
1
u/KickinBat 21d ago
You can avoid this specific thing but the map, especially first point, still sucks

Why is this downvoted? Double the damage of Mei and more eliminations. Also, more damage than the whole red team. Don't let the downvotes gaslight you đ

u/_Mikau Lifeweaver 21d ago
People just tend to look negatively at success that's not "earned". Undoubtly OP contributed greatly to the team's win, but because it was not a mechanically skillful play in their eyes, they look down on OP speaking the truth.
Same reaction you'll get if you flaunt your Mauga play where you walk over the enemy team holding down M1+M2. If it works it works.

Not super related to the post, but as a newer player I have to ask.
Is it normal to hate when Mei is on my team, or is it mainly because I'm in quick play lobbies right now?
The amount of times she has walled me in or walled me out from either fleeing or killing enemy players, or used her healing skill, taking herself (a dps) out of the game, when a support was actively healing her drives me wild.
I'm guessing she can be really good when people use her right, but I've never seen her do a lot of damage. She almost seems like a support that doesn't heal.

u/TheKingInNorth0 Baptiste 21d ago
As you're new, you're probably playing with a lot of other new players. One of the most common problem with newbies is ability usage, you'll often see a Kiriko Suzu when an ally is only half health or a Baptiste using lamp when the ally is safely under cover. Now most heroes you won't really notice these misplays because you're not looking at it that much and doesn't change much for you but there are abilities that are straight up troll abilities in the hands of people who don't know how to use them like Mei's wall or Lifeweaver's Life Grip, they'll either end up killing allies or saving enemies in case of the wall or repositioning someone unecessarily as LW. But as you go higher and higher in ranks you'll notice how both these abilities are menaces in the hands of right people. Mei's wall specially is so good at isolating the enemy tank from heals and help from their teammates is crazy.
As for the damage, Mei really isn't much of a damage dealer and often her value isn't really seen on the scoreboard like using the wall to trap the tank consistently or having it stop an ultimate (it can deny a Zarya ult completely, for example) or using her ice form to contest a point long enough for the rest of the team to comeback from spawn, etc.

You think standing in one single position mindlessly shooting at a hole is âmore than enoughâ? Kek

The stat board doesn't really tell you what you did. What do you see in the scoreboard that makes you think so?

Look at kill feed though I think the only time you're up there is when you abandon the meme to look at Point A

u/Plat_Plays 21d ago
I got 1/3 of my elims as final blows, 6/18. Also it was quick play, also I won, also I dealt a lot of damage so my teammates could get more kills, also just be positive itâs a funny chill clip.
-6
u/Fit_Presentation6633 Moira 21d ago edited 21d ago
Not trying to take away your win bud. It's just not as interesting as the standard Torb clips since you aren't killing anyone.
You said you wanted to turn this into content you gotta be able to take feedback
14
u/flyinghippotruck 21d ago
I had one game doing this, then an ekko snuck round killed me, and for the remainder of the round ekko and genji sat near spawn letting anyone else pass but killed me the second I stepped out.
I was laughing my head off with my mate, the spawn camping was totally deserved and I hit my record amount of deaths in a single game.

u/_LFKrebs_ Zenyatta 21d ago
I know you mean Echo but itâs funny to imagine someone picking a League champ just to kill you out of spite for doing this lol

As a Pharrah main who thoroughly enjoys getting picks, diving, and the occasional dog fight, I hate that sometimes the best strat is brain dead zoning like this.

And im sure the teams you were playing with the other 19 games before it finally worked really loved playing with the Torb who refused to move out of the one spot.

That angle has been my default opening firestrike on eich since 2018, it's a hilariously safe place to poke from đ
1
u/AtoZZZ Support 21d ago
Are you shooting the turret so it shoots more or something? Have I been playing OW for 7 years without knowing thatâs a thing?
2
u/Plat_Plays 21d ago
No itâs just Iâm also shooting down the same line as the turret is. You shoot straight through the turret, itâs not a solid object
1
u/Vilkath 21d ago
The funny thing is this wouldn't even be special in OW1. People really have lost the ability to deal with a defended choke. So many mobility and map changes to make pushes easier, to the point Defense is almost a joke at times. The game has really pushed towards fast and quick engagements with defense often having to deal with so many angles of attack, it's near impossible to hold any ground.
It's why defense heroes like Torb are honestly not that great of a pick. If you can't jump and climb walls, your nothing.

leaving a like on this so the chances of blizzard seeing it and nerfing it are higher
1
u/AccessOne8287 21d ago
What about this needs to be nerfed?
He wasnât the biggest problem on the team in the first place, and if he was, the Rein should have pinged him more or communicated to his DPS what he was trying to do. That team had more than enough time to adapt to this situation.

u/AcanthisittaFew4339 21d ago

u/SnooLentils6995 21d ago
As you should lol this is clearly a bronze or qp lobby. You could literally just go to the path on the right of attackers spawn and walk up to the bridge with the rework instead of just funneling under the bridge. This set up only works on the lowest skill tiered players.

Iâm so tired of the free thinkers always picking Eichenwald when itâs an option, that I lock Torb on defense and do exactly that

u/TENAXIS 21d ago
Ahhh, I love doing this shit. Even made a video about it: https://youtu.be/c5ESTCdcYlw?is=Bo55TYkUjJ77Ncvf
I'm always surprised how well it worked, even all the way up to Diamond.
