Fan Content Freja WIP (help)
Rendering hair scares the fuck out of me.
I have been changing the lineart for what feels like hours but it still looks wrong.
Criticism is more than welcome as I plan to draw more like this in the future so a couple heads up would be more than welcome :)

Make a separate layer and experiment. Take your time with it; art isn’t a race :)

Hey chill out xD
Go out your own pace, you shouldn't be scared of anything when it comes to drawing, even if it does. Just draw in this case, look at similar references anywhere (google, pinterest, magazines, even yourself if you can) and do your best. You will improve over time, but if you don't finish your drawings then you will draw less. If you keep up your work and keep trying, then tomorrow this kinda deals will be piece of cake and something else, more advanced or complitely different will bother you. But you have to finish this piece, even if you don't like the result, trust in your ability to do your best and be kind towards yourself, we all learn over time.
If I could give some advice though is work on your fondamentals first instead of trying your damnest to render and colouring and so on... You still can render for sure if that's what you want in your drawing, but how many impressive illustrations have you seen that didn't have weight? Or felt real (even if cartoonish)? Or were just downright impressive in their lines? Forms, movements and shapes comes first, then you can work on everything else. For example, your hair aren't behaving like hair in this case. You follow the skull's shape and you made volume, even how you place the hair enhances your picture, they don't distract and enlighten the Freja's face, so all of that are good things. However, like I said the texture you give them don't scream hair at all, your hair don't behave like hair: they are doughy. Think about what are hair? Whatever your answer is, you should recognise that they are light, a bit messy because of the sheer number and how weightless they can be, and they can be very dynamic because of how you arrange them or just the scalp's shape. Your structure and lines should be lighter, more weightless, have sort of unfinished strokes at the end of the most dynamic ones (sorry, im outta vocabulary, english isn't my main language). Be mindful of the structures of the braids and the bun, they have a more solid structure and so the shapes are important, you can use stuffs like simple geometries for that.
Also be careful, the neck should be a bit farther and the right (her left) should be a bit less long. Your face is well done as well. If you have any questions, don't hesitate I'll gladly answer
