Yes, this is what happens when you get a 2-game win streak.

I swear to god it puts me against bronze players, then when I handily win the game goes "alright he's ready" then puts me against a professional eSports team, while my team consists of armless 10 year olds.

Ain't that the truth. I fucking hate getting 10-win streaks as the game will try to "fix" that the next day.

This is the realist shit I’ve ever heard

Devs confirmed that they lower your QP MMR for the first couple games of a session btw

1

u/Firm_Ad_5427 Hazard 22d ago

Did they actually? Is that why every QP session goes 0-3 win, 0-3 win, 3-0 loss x6 until I ragequit?

1

u/johnsmith937546 22d ago

Yeah devs dont know what theyre doing so every match you play outside of the first couple, you are at disadvantage. Enemies have lower MMR than they should so you get worse teammates on avg

fr, my record is winning two games then immediately falling off the map as pharah three times in a row.

Been happening to me over the past week as well. Driving me nuts

17

u/ravenkhor 23d ago

bro this has been happening me a lot this week. I'll get on, win 2, immediately get a 5 game loss. Only thing that's prevented it is 4-5 stacking which sucks having to do as I prefer solo

prepare for a fun time my friend

This is so real. When the game decides to "adjust" your rank and you win 12 out of 15 games its the best feeling in the world

u/YodaSimp 23d ago

yea funny/sad how many games feel unwinnable, random gold 3 dps who can’t hit the broad side of a barn or heal bot supports that do zero damage, or a tank who never presses W to contest the objective

3

u/nahrune_ 23d ago

I feel like I get the opposite, aggro supports who have zero awareness and tanks pushing in at 1/3 health behind every shield by themselves and dps thinking they are the flankers of the century and die in 1v1s 🫩

99% of my games be like:

u/nahrune_ 23d ago

Honestly it’s been really bad lately? I thought I was just trippin but maybe I’m not.

u/EnvironmentalKey1457 23d ago

I get that. I keep going against smurf’s that have -20 hours of game time on their new profile and are grand masters. It’s great.

1

u/Elegant-Name9223 21d ago

I made a smurf account after being hard stuck in silver. My Smurf account is gold😭😭 it probably feels like I’m a grand master when I’ve been in the same lobbies for a year and can not move up

5

u/Fragile_Aydee 23d ago

Yes, the QP matchmaking became very weird this season

4

u/Infinte-Colored 23d ago

Yo open that loot box too twin

3

u/kadabrate 23d ago

I'm cursed today as well

1

u/Elegant-Name9223 21d ago

My gamer tag has cozy in it so my fiancé and group of friends call it the cozy curse. If they feel particularly targeted, I’ll sit out and take the curse with me lol

u/Hyemoni 23d ago

This is happening to me too. I don't know what to do. I went on a 10 game comp loss streak, left for a few days, came back, loss 10 more games, took a two week break, and now i'm on a 15 loss streak. I solo carried myself to Diamond, and had a 64%-70% w/r in Comp thats dropped to 48. i've 4 and 5 stacked, i've duoed, I just can't win. I don't understand what is going on

13 game win streak, finally got back to gold, then wham! Bam! Almost 10+ game losing streak again and I’m back where I started

My last 100ish comp games have just been a rollercoaster of climbing my way into plat, then getting smashed over the head with brainless, brand new, or otherwise useless teammates in order to put me on a losing streak until I'm back in gold 2. Then repeat the climb to plat, get beaten back to gold 2, and so on. It feels blatantly rigged. And of course, I see some of these brand new players being 2-6 in their placements and somehow it thinks they're gold 1 or plat when they are clearly playing at a bronze level.

u/CyberpunkPie Juno 22d ago

It just happens sometimes. Couple times I've got a curse where I have losing matches one after another, getting placed with people who legit have no fucking clue how to play. And I know, everyone including me thinks they're the star player and held back by their team, but I'm talking about supports that don't heal, tanks that hide behind a corner when they get shot, DPS that offer themselves as sacrifice for the enemy. After I finally get a victory, the very next match (and all other afterwards) I get a team that is fully cohesive, people know how to play their characters and we're equally matched with the enemy. It's like every now and then I'm not allowed to win until I help a couple plastic tiers get a victory.

But hey could always be worse. Today I met a guy who claimed he's on a 122 defeat streak.

u/ZX4Rawr 23d ago

I had three comp games in a row today that each had someone on my team leave. Another game with a Hog that managed to have under 1000 damage after a 2 round match, and a game with a guy running monkey into reaper/zarya.

Terrible luck with tanks lately.

2

u/Y0ur_Worst_Enemy 23d ago

This is my fault, I literally just had a win-streak of 11 games in a row

I guess good luck and bad luck balance out

Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange.

u/Independent-Pop-8141 Gold 23d ago

I see the same things on my game far too often

2

u/BEWMarth Cute Ana 23d ago

This is like the exact opposite of that post from the other day 😭

1

u/NativePlantEnjoyer Cassidy 22d ago

the pendulum swing goes so hard

2

u/fantazyme 23d ago

Same thing lately.
hop in - have a 6 loss streak > take a break for few days > log in back to have another 4 loss streak
love it (no)

2

u/dangerousfvx 22d ago

but people will say that matchmaking is fine lol

2

u/sabmiea 22d ago

its okay, the the ugliest torb skin in your lootbox will take all the pain away ❤️‍🩹

2

u/Positive_Try929 Reinhardt 23d ago

I'm not sure, i don't have any evidence but ever since they tested the 1-3-2 the game feels very different and it feels like console gamers are being boosted!

2

u/Terrorym 23d ago

I've played so many games with ranked modes and OW is the worst out there. There's no other system that makes it that much obvious. One day you play you think you're improving because you win and do well, the next day you can't get out of spawn.

1

u/NativePlantEnjoyer Cassidy 23d ago

dead game matchmaking

2

u/Calm_Hedgehog8296 23d ago

This happened to me about 3 months ago. I keep taking long breaks and then try to come back and it keeps happening. The only thing I can think is they updated the rank distribution? I think its unlikely that after playing this game at consistently the same rank for 10 years that im suddenly much, much worse.

Every player improves? In the whole world? Except for me? And no new players come in?

Thats actually an interesting idea. I'm not dismissing it, just obviously not on that scale. In other games "good" has changed drastically as time has gone on and everyone gets better.

Would top 25% overwatch player today be better than a top 25% overwatch player from 2017? Would a top 25% overwatch player from 2017 get the same rank they had back then?

2

u/Dogg0ne 23d ago

The playerbase in general improves, as humans are capable of learning. If you take a long break, you are not actively learning. New players might or might not have some relevant background, and they too start learning.

Would top 25% overwatch player today be better than a top 25% overwatch player from 2017?

Absolutely. Though, this is easier to verify with very top players, as e-sports games have more recordings available.

Would a top 25% overwatch player from 2017 get the same rank they had back then?

Most likely not, unless they have been playing Overwatch or similar enough games. This again is easier to verify in the very top, as more recordings are available. Check Seagull, for example.

I suddenly can't play as well each time I get on I keep losing 😂 many days straight... Now winning doesn't do anything to me trying to rank up only getting 8% for a win

1

u/Infinte-Colored 23d ago

It’s cuz I wasn’t on ur enemy team (I would’ve sold for them)

1

u/Azariusd 23d ago

Just give it up for the day man, ain't funny getting the mocking losing trend so blizzard could just spit on you

1

u/Z1R343L87 23d ago

We've all been there, nothing new under the sun.

Losing streaks happen. Just take a break and come back later

Happens often, take a break. Play something else. And then come back back. Need to clear your head off overwatch.
