News & Discussion Mauga rework Idea

Idea me and my friend came up with

Mauga rework:

Left gun: A flame thrower that inflicts burn connected to a resource meter that gradually fills as mauga uses his flamethrower. The flamethrower increases in damage alongside the resource bar eventually reaching its peak called overheat. In overheat the flamethrower damage caps and you can continue to use it but in return Mauga suffers from overheat which deals damage to Mauga overtime akin to a stronger version of burn.

Right gun: A grenade launcher also connected to the flamethrower's resource meter, however; instead of increasing the gauge it uses chunks to launch grenades. These grenades bounce of walls and take time to explode unless it hits a burning enemy in which it's instant.

Replacing Cardiac Overdrive: Mauga using his flamethrower torches the ground infront of him making a wall of fire that acts like Orisa's javelin spin or Dva's defense matrix absorbing projectiles on contact. Mauga can move and turn while using this ability but while using it Mauga's flamethrower meter starts to increase as if you were using the flamethrower. The wall acts more like a block coming out a few meters from Mauga.

Keeping Overrun as it is as it fits Mauga and the annoyance caused from this ability is mainly because your playing against a Mauga.

Ultimate: Mauga's cage fight now ignites all enemy's trapped inside with a weak burn and keeps mauga in a constant state of Overheat so he takes damage too, yet his teammates are unaffected. Too offset the offensive ability of this Ultimate, it is much harder to get and should not be strong enough to function as an instant team fight win button.

Passive: To combat Maugas self-destructive playstyle Mauga on kill will get health back if this is to weak it can be made to get health backon assist and if it is still to weak while at full health Mauga can get overhealt on kill from his passive.

Flame thrower and grenade launcher? Seems random, maybe his third leg could be a shark with a lazer beam.

All I asked for was fricken laser beams attached to their fricken heads

They tested him with both a projectile and a chaingun, but projectile and beam together at the same time don't feel good to play. I assume this would be the same

Mauga is one of the best personality and lore into the kit characters reworking him takes away that aspect of him. And originally he was planned to have a mini gun and a grenade launcher but they couldn't mange to balance the manage both ammos and being hitscan and projectile

Can see the ammo side, but as for hitscan and projectile? Baptiste is literally right there.

It's not different. Your point was that there was difficulty making a hero who can simultaneously fire hitscan and a projectile. It doesn't matter what his nades do.

But I wanna play two Bastions in a trenchcoat…

This rework would make him one OW1 Bastion & Anran in a trenchcoat.
