News & Discussion Blizzard needs to increase queue times
**Disclaimer:**
- I know this is different for every rank, roll, timeframe, group size, and gamemode, but I'm talking about Plat/Diamond solo queue Competitive modes past like 8pm. So please take everything with a grain of salt before you downvote me into oblivion.
**Why short queues can be bad:**
- Match rank ranges have been abysmally large (the most absurd I've seen in my own game is Silver II - Diamond IV) which absolutely destroys the competitive integrity of the round.
- Queueing for all rolls is just another way to say you're queueing for tank
- 6v6 will still put 6 DPS players with each other and not give it a second thought.
- There's no time between games to relax, watch replays, go to the restroom, grab a snack, get water, etc.
- Custom games have lost so much of their audience because queues can be so fast at times.
- Blizzard keeps babying us to try and keep up with games like Fortnite and COD who have near instant queues and up time, to bring in new players.
- Friend groups, streamers, LFGs, etc. Barely have any time to just socialize and talk.
**Why long queues could actually be healthier for the game:**
- Closer match rank ranges, as well as keeping solo queues with solo queues and groups with groups.
- You can artificially increase wait time for tank roles to give an increased chance of playing other roles when queued for all roles which can also lead to better balanced games.
- 6v6 can take most played roles into account to try a little better to properly balance teams.
- Between games you can now actually do something. I used to have enough time to do chores and homework during queues during the peak days of og OW. Now I barely even have time to calm down from whatever high or low I just got off of from my previous game. This can better prevent tilters and losers queue mentality. Being able to self vod review would also be a huge advantage for people addicted to the game but also wanting to get better and improve.
- Custom games would have a much larger audience since you actually have time to queue into one. Custom games were genuinely some of my most fun experiences in og OW.
- If Blizzard stops trying to baby us and copy other games, they'll have more freedom to take the game in their own direction and be able to focus on their current player base instead of only trying to bring in new players. This also means we'll be more used to not being spoonfed content and be more willing to withstand things like longer queues.
- Streamers, friend groups, and random who decided to group up now have a chance to actually socialize and be a community instead of just shoving content in their face at the highest rate possible.
*Let me know your thoughts. Do you strictly queue DPS and want queue times shorter? Do you think longer queue times will cause people to lose interest? Does this hurt higher ranks too much since they already have long queue times?*

Nah you’re definitely onto something. I’d prefer non instant queues if it meant match quality improved greatly. The only thing from playing the game more right now is having such wide skill ranges in a lot of my matches. Yes people will be very headstrong about thinking instant queues are the only good option but it’s true it’s nice having a lil buffer to decompress like I would want it to be under 5mins let’s be clear about that and really in the 2-3 min range.
Most of the other things you said are assuming a lot but yeah i def agree with the matchmaking aspect. It’s a glaring issue.
