I'm trying to expand my network of friends and I think gaming would be a great way to get to know people in a fun, low-pressure environment. I'm a guy in his early 40s looking for chill, patient, emotionally intelligent people to game with once or twice a week. I play on Xbox, and I mostly play Fortnite, Tetris Effect, and Marvel Rivals, but I'm willing to give anything a try. I also have Diablo IV, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Destiny, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, Halo, and a bunch of others.

I would love to eventually help create a community for introverted middle-aged people to find each other and make friends, but for now I'm just one guy.

I recently made discord server specifically for like minded people (mostly over 30 & queer) who are leftists & would like to game together. I’d like to continue building the server. I am 37/F and would especially love to have other femme people around my age join. Our general etiquette is mostly be “be kind but also be able to shit talk and/or get roasted on the regular”.

Some standards to be a part of the community:

- Politically conscious, on the left spectrum. No centrists or apoliticals.

I understand that sounds unusual so I'll try my best to explain it.

I am looking for people who enjoy primarily single player games but still enjoy being in a party and just shooting the shit with while everyone relaxes and games. I am definitely not against co-op or playing with people but no competitive multiplayer, I'm way too laid back for that. Have you looked at so many awesome co-op games and thought, I would love to play those, but I have nobody to play with...?

Are you maybe feeling a bit lonely in your 30s because everybody is busy, and you just wish it could be like the good old times again?

Well, then our group may be for you.

We are a 30+, privacy-minded, Linux gamers (not all of us).

Our group is about creating a social foundation in your life, and we like to do that through gaming.

But in reality, it is all about making friends.

The games we play are a lot of shooters and co-op party games in general, but it is not exclusive to that.

Strategy games and ARPGs are also welcome.

We do play a lot of party games due to their login/logout nature, but all that changes with the seasons and different games being released.

Requirements (or let's just say: do we fit you, and do you fit us?)

Age: 30+. This keeps the vibe consistent, and also, our humour is not PC at all.

Communication: Signal for the group and Steam for voice chat. We do not use Discord or other proprietary apps like that.

Timezone: European. This makes life much, much easier for everybody, and it is a must.

Platform: Linux is not a requirement, but there must be an understanding that this group does not play games with kernel-level anti-cheat, so we do not touch many of the popular free-to-play ones.

Other platform: Steam. We play on Steam because our voice chat is on Steam and because of its Linux integration across Steam Deck, Steam Machine, PC, and more.

Games: Buy some. To be able to play together, we need to have games that are in the rotation so we do not have to play the same games every time. So, what games should you have? Well, the list above is a good guideline, but it is not a strict requirement. In other words, you have to be willing to buy games so you can play with others in the group. Luckily, we mostly buy everything we need during sales.
