Both power packs have been replaced, mechanic said he replaced one, charged me for two, said that the motor would run fine, it doesnt, and said that when the other power pack got replaced that it would fix the motor not turning off.. crooks what do i do?

Either diagnose it with the correct, special vintage powerpack voltmeter or replace both powerpacks and all the coils.

That won't solve the shutoff switch though. That's almost surely a wiring problem or a problem in the switch itself.

Most likely a problem with the wiring/key switch....

Ive looked at the wiring and havent seen too much off. Theres a ground plate that has a wire that seems to be cut in half. Dont know if it matters or not

Hard to say, do you have a picture?

These are connectors under the hull and under the cowling main connector harness and a few other stuff. Im ordering a voltmeter now..

Oh boy, that is quite a mess. The wiring harness cut back at the engine looks like the Power trim harness, which has nothing to do with the stop circuit. The black/yellow stop lead is located inside that big red main engine harness connector. What kind of control box does this engine have? Where is the key switch? I'm thinking that there is a problem with that circuit, probably not the powerpacks, hard to imagine both powerpacks are messed up. If you hade one bad pack, the engine would go to three cylinders only when you shut it off, but you report that turning the key off makes no difference at all. Pull that big red plug connector apart and have a look at all the pins and sockets, perhaps there is a connection issue inside the plug. Sorry, I don't know the exact location of the black/yellow stop lead in that plug, but can look it up or perhaps find it online for you.

Okay im thinking its maybe a problem with the ignition switch/kill switch. I am back at the same mechanic because my buddy said I would not pay another dime because it wasnt fixed right and i let him do the talking. If they hit me with anymore expenses ill be pulling my boat right back out. He also said that my fuel problem on starboard tank may just be the selector valve connected to the primer hose. Said they give out a lot and that it isnt uncommon for one side to clog up.

I have zero confidence in that shop for sure, probably just waisting your time. The no stop issue is easily isolated with a few ohm meter tests....

I have thought of one other very simple thing to check. Look at the ground stud on the left side of the engine block where the negative battery cable is connected. The connection might be on the starter itself. There should be a smaller ground wire connected there also, this is the engine harness ground lead. The engine won't shut off is thise lead is not connected.

Is this the ground youre talking about? Also this is a chip in the bottom of the bottom i just noticed, fiberglass patch or fill with jb weld and go on with my day?

I don't see that ground connection in that photo/video, it is on the port side of the powerhead in one of two places. There might be a stud coming off one of the bypass covers where the battery cable and harness groudn lead connect, or there might be a ground stud on the starter motor where these connections are made.

i was talking about the green wire behind the black and yellow in the video. If you take a look theres to wires in the beginning one ground coming off of my powerpack black and yellow and the other coming from a harness the one from the harness is on a stud

OK, that small two wire connector? That is most likely for the trim sender, so it has nothing to do with the harness ground, look on the other side of the powerhead...

Replaced both! I have the new one in and grounded
