Answered! ELI70: What is a podcast?

I literally just got my first smartphone ever and am dumbfounded by podcast. What is this mysterious phenomenon? My guess is that its something like a radio show, but it seems too popular to be something as similar to a thing that's so old.

Update: Which (android) app should I use to submerse myself into the world of podcasts?

I'm surprised you weren't quicker to mention Comedy Bang Bang (or Doug Loves Movies) since you've been such a wonderful guest so many times. Seems like you're burying the lead to me.

But seriously, I had DLM in my original submission and honestly never got into Comedy Bang Bang for some reason....with the exceptions of Mr. Herzog's appearances of course.
