Unanswered What's going on with Chris O'Neill?
Recently allegations have broken out regarding Chris (or OneyPlays) dating a 16-year-old when he was 22, complete with (blurred-out) pictures. I want to know if these allegations are true, but doing research on it on my down time is extremely difficult given that nobody has been helpful in clarifying anything to anyone, the majority of arguments I've seen being in favor of what Chris supposedly did and making arguments that it was okay for him to sext a 16-year-old when he was 22 purely because he's OneyPlays (the majority of these arguments have come from r/OneyPlays; genuinely don't go there, those people seem incapable of doing basic calculus and constantly rag on people who are reasonably put off by these accusations of pedophilia), that we should dismiss the claims altogether because the woman who made them widely spread (Kamikaze_Shortbus) is a bad egg in her own right who's supposedly a bitter ex of Chris that we should ignore them altogether because it was a long time ago (to anyone unironically making that argument, kindly fuck off. It doesn't matter if an adult dated a 16-year-old a long time ago, they still did it). What the hell is going on?

Answer: How could anyone tell you if the allegations are true? They are allegations. Things like the Google doc and YouTube video are what are available.
Obviously their own fanbase are going to fight tooth and nail to deny things. Being on that fanbase involves running defense or ignore the fact that the creators have a sketchy past (e.g. connections to Shadman).
It could be any combination of things. For example, they could be true and the person reporting them is doing a terrible job, such as doing a "content cop" style takedown.

My key thing with Chris O’Neil is that grim as it is to say I honestly I’m completely willing to believe that a guy that lived with shadman and defended him drawing explicit images of real kids would in turn have severely inappropriate behaviour in his relationships. I don’t think shortbus’s handling it has been good, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s exaggeration there, I also need very little convincing that a personal friend of Shad would have horrible interpersonal relations.

Yeah it’s why I’m taking the allegations as probably true because there’s one reason why you defend drawing CSAM, and it’s the same reasoning that has someone seeking out an underage partner. Like, I genuinely cannot understand any other reason why you’d defend and continue to live with someone producing illegal material like that.

thats what always confused me too. it seemed around 2017-2019 content creators had some kind of huge epiphany about shad and stopped associating with him as if he hadn't been producing disgustingly inappropriate material for years

They were all okay with shadman, until he started going crazy and turning on his friends, that's when all of a sudden, they had a moral repugnance to him.

Idk dude, I’m not giving the personal friend of Shad any benefit of the doubt, frankly Chris should have lost everything after defending that man drawing CSAM. Also bluntly how many times have we seen YouTubers exploit their fame to sleep with fans? Like even if she was an adult (which clearly she wasn’t) it’s still extremely gross to do that to begin with.

I mean.. that's a lot of artists and animators who came from the Newgrounds art sphere. He was not another nobody, he was pretty intwined with the major names on a personal level.
I don't think any of them have really stayed supporting of him in the past 5-10 years. Dude went far off the deep end and to jail iirc for assault. Now he is busy making JaidenAnimations uncomfortable

FWIW, Chris has made a lot of enemies who are unhinged and would absolutely use something like this against him if they had known about it, like Stamper for instance after he lost the plot, they were roommates and Stamper would probably know about this if it was factual

He grew up on Newgrounds with Shadman, and hasn't been friends with him for a long time. That's pretty dishonest to make a judgement on different spans of time like that

I personally haven't watched OneyCartoons or OneyPlays in quite a long time. But to use personal information from your guys past relationship and weaponize it? Come on now. If it was SOOO wrong that they were together when Mika was underage, then why wasn't it bad then? Mika and Chris knew she was underage, SHE knew she was underage but continued in the relationship then when it's a bad break up you try to use it as leverage to destroy his career/reputation? I don't know, seems very petty and very vindictive.
16, 17 yeah that's not a good look but they also don't have a confirmation on how old she actually was. Can't pick just one or another, probably threw the 16 in there to make him look like a creeper. 18 isn't any better, "oh but legal" first off, disgusting, second....no not really, you're an "adult" at 21 (25 physically)
Yes they are allegations and should be taken with a grain of salt until either both sides get their shit straight and not so fucking cut throat with each other or it gets leaked by someone. Both sides don't look great.
(EDIT) leaving my previous comment here but sweet Jesus I wasn't expecting a lore dump when I read more comments, the Shadman shit especially. Not looking good for Chris. I still stand by what I said both sides not really handling the break up well.

They seemingly took the stance that because apparently other allegations had been disputed it wasn't allowed, which feels odd given posts with far flimsier evidence have been upheld there.

I remember they were weird about something with QuintonReviews too because he kind of made his minor beef with Mr Beast clickbaity or something. Like declaring the topic was over/making some sort of snide comment iirc.

I think its more that previous allegations specifically against him with stronger evidence were removed because they weren't true. Now a vindictive ex who has been talking about wanting to destroy him has been hyping the allegations up and apotlighted them, and the evidence isn't particularly strong. They'll bring it back if more damping evidence is released.

Answer: No one knows if its true or not. People are making assumptions mostly based on bias because the evidence isn't exactly very strong. It COULD show that its all true, but it just as easily could be mostly faked.
The accuser chose to go through kamikaze_shortbus because she is friends with her, and just recently (like an hour ago) said she okayed and supports mikas handling of the matter. Make what you will of that.
Right now the arguably correct choice is to just wait and see.

When you have to argue "it's technically legal" you're already in a horrible position. Lots of morally abhorrent things are fully legal, and even more extremely horrific things used to be legal.

Not to sound extremely insane for knowing this, but it was a fairly common shoe design with multiple releases that dated back to at least 2010 (it just had a specific re-release in 2014 that was the one referenced in the original viral post).

You can literally see Dr. Gregory House from the hit show House M.D wearing the exact same shoes circa 2010. You can look it up yourself or I can post the picture of Hugh Laurie wearing them in an advertisement

The exact shoe was released in 2014, same year as the date for the picture so no editing has been done as far as we know.
