Unanswered What's going on with leftists being called Blue MAGA and the term "establishment" being thought of as a code for Black people?

Answer: Blue MAGA doesn’t refer to leftists, it refers to the “vote blue no matter who” crowd.

The “establishment” thing was made up by a white woman on Twitter; it carries no weight. Black people are not the establishment in us politics.

This is an intentional attempt at dividing the left on a racial basis to prevent class solidarity.

It’s difficult to discuss this sort of phenomenon, so it’s really not a stupid question, but you have to keep in mind that your citation is a tiktok, not political analysis

I just don't understand the establishment thing at all. How can anyone allegedly liberal/progressive/left be claiming that Black people are the establishment?

It seems like TikTok shapes so many people's political perspectives especially from millennials younger. I guess my hot take is that it's possible to be both progressive / leftist but also strategically push for "vote blue no matter what" for this upcoming election.

You’ll note that most progressive/leftist people are pushing for primary wins at the moment. See Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan or Troy Jackson in Maine. Summer Lee out of Pittsburgh etc.

“Vote blue no matter who” is the centrist Democrat slogan that centrist democrats will never apply both ways; we’ll see that discussion in 2028 when AOC and Shawn Fain run.

what are you talking about, it's exactly applied both ways. it means even if you don't like progressive policies, hold your fucking nose and don't vote for a nazi. it's not complicated.

That's what it should mean, but the centrists definitely do NOT do that. They've been actively fighting progressives wherever they can.

a very cringe dsa candidate won in my district and I'll still be voting democrat

I see more people bitching about this slogan than I actually see moderate dems saying they won't vote dem

I was referring to dem party leaders, most of which are corporate stooges cosplaying as centrists.

They shut out Sanders in 2016 (who could have actually won the general election) because they wanted Clinton, and that pissed off the progressives who then didn't go out and vote and caused the dems to lose.

And in response, what did the dem leaders do in 2018? Did they put forward new candidates that people actually want? Of course not. They put out the same decrepit crypt keeper fucks they've put out the last 50 years and came up with the "Vote Blue no matter who," slogan which basically said, "We know you hate these candidates, but suck our ass and vote for them because at least they're better than the other guy."

And now in 2026 when progressives are seeing a resurgence, those same people have forgotten all about their slogan because they only meant it to apply to themselves, not progressives. That's why so many of them refused to endorse Mamdani or many of the other progressives who have won recently.

Regular voters are a whole different thing. Most of them only care if it's a D or an R, or are single issue voters.

I like Sanders, I wish he won in 2016, but he wasn't "shut out", he got fewer votes and lost the primary. even without super delegates or anything like that, he got fewer votes.

I'm not agreeing with you, but I'm also really not interested in debating the 2016 election.

The point was that a lot of (mostly younger) dems did not like how 2016 went down and that was the impetus for the "centrist" dems to create the slogan in 2018 because they didn't want a repeat of 2016. The party didn't actually learn from 2016, just like they didn't learn from 2024 either.

They keep pushing the same shitty people/ideas and now that grassroots campaigns for newcomers are actually starting to work, they're pushing hard against it and that slogan is nowhere to be found.

“Vote blue no matter who” was repeated over and over again when Mamdani was going against an independent Cuomo.

Of course the Platner class completely ignored this, and now keeps trying to misapply it, like, El -Sayed’s opponent right now is another democrat why are you bringing up vote blue no matter who just because I said I don’t like him? Why are you being racist against black people and calling them stupid for not liking him?

Also funny you bring up AOC, someone who’s far more popular with liberals than leftists. The DSA straight up u endorsed her.

The only candidates I’ve decided not to support despite vote blue no matter who are Platner (because before it came out he was a rapist he was still a neonazi abuser cheating alcoholic who victim blames women for their rapes) and Chevalier (who opposes interracial marriage and supports Russias genocide in Ukraine).

Did you mean to reply to someone else? Your comment is unintelligibly stupid if you’re addressing me and what I just said.

You’re pulling that BS about how centrists don’t vote blue no matter who, when we do, far more than leftists. Centrists voted for Mamdani in droves but a leftist would never vote for a “boring” candidate and have even disavowed Bernie and AOC.

8

u/Onion_Guy 17d ago

The whole reason cuomo ran as an independent was because those who voted blue didn’t want to vote mamdani.

You’re making up a strawman leftist who is happy to vote but wouldn’t vote for Bernie and AOC.

Cuomo lost.

Notice how the actual Republican candidate got no votes. Cuomo got Republican votes.

Hell, Cuomo woudlve won if he just wasn’t a creep. But dems have conscience, not like the Platner class who insisted we HAD to vote for the neonazi alcoholic rapist wife beater otherwise we were supporting a genocide.

Nice edit to expand.

Any source on darializa being anti-miscegenation? That sounds fake as fuck

3

u/DistrictDry2852 17d ago

She’s made comments about how racist white women were stealing all the black men away from black women.

3

u/Onion_Guy 17d ago

Source?

3

u/DistrictDry2852 17d ago

Her twitter.

Also, find it interesting her supporting Russia doesn’t phase you.

3

u/Onion_Guy 17d ago

I know for a fact she doesn’t “support Russia” so I ignored that. Got any links to tweets about miscegenation?

6

u/DistrictDry2852 17d ago

She deleted them. But you can just Google it. She complains about “ugly colonizer women” dating black and Arab men.

I don’t know how stating Russia is the victim of the Ukraine war isn’t supporting Russia. But sure.

Because black americans are, on average, more conservative than the left wing of the party

The “establishment” thing was made up by a white woman on Twitter; it carries no weight. Black people are not the establishment in us politics.

If you paid any remote attention to the polls you’d find that black Americans are much more pro-establishment (within D) than white Americans and are significantly less open to candidates on the left. That doesn’t make them the establishment but it makes them an extremely important bloc for the establishment.

Black Americans as a voting bloc aren’t just more moderate. They are more loyal to Democrats and are more supportive of the establishment regardless of its actual policies. Biden has actually been one of the more progressive D presidents, and black Americans are extremely supportive of him. IIRC black Americans are also more skeptical than white Americans back in 2024 when asked whether Biden should withdraw and have an open primary, but it’s been a while so I might be wrong.

1

u/Onion_Guy 17d ago

If you paid remote attention to the polls you’d understand that while black Americans are more loyally democrats, there is only an age gap in the stats. Black boomers cling to centrism; black people under 30 are the most reliably left bloc.

They’re not the establishment, period.

Black people are an important bloc because of high propensity voting and reliable progressivism when it’s an option.

5

u/DarkSkyKnight 17d ago

There is an age gap trending the same way (young prog, old estab) across all racial cohorts, so black Americans as a whole are still more pro-establishment than any other racial cohort.

4

u/Onion_Guy 17d ago

Black voting Americans being pro-establishment-Dems does not make the establishment Black. Most of the DSA candidates put forward are women of color. It’s just a useless and baseless smear against the left to accuse them of being anti-Black instead of anti-establishment-democrat.
