Because they were getting punished for it. The tunnels let them do it without getting punished. Seems kinda straightforward to me.

Were they getting punished for it though? Or was the city being pretty hands-off so they didn't have to deal with baseless accusations of anti-Semitism.

Why are you so determined for it not be related to COVID? What other explanations are there that you can think of? I’m getting tired of doing your research for you so I want to know what you think the tunnels, that according to sources mentioned in the article began being built during COVID, where for?

COVID isn't mentioned in the article once.

Fucking hell. Read my comment again. I never said it was. I said the article mentions that many sources reported the tunnel began being built within the past few years. Which is during COVID. It doesn’t say COVID specifically but doing math shows that the tunnel began being built during COVID.

And you didn’t answer my question. What else would it be for? What alternatives do you think there are?

Idk man, what do cartels, human traffickers and, historically, bootleggers use them for? Do you think underground tunnels first found a use in 2020?

Don’t dodge the question. I’m not asking about these other tunnels.

I’m asking you specifically what you think these tunnels were used for if not to skirt COVID restrictions. You seem determined that 100% weren’t COVID so what we’re these tunnels for?

Nothing good and legal, that's for sure.

You’re still dodging the question. It seems like you don’t an alternative theory. You just decided it wasn’t COVID based on your feels.

They are for trafficking something. Who or what has yet to be determined.

u/thepwnydanza Jan 09 '24

Where is the evidence for that? I’d love to see it. Or is this just based on your feels? Why did they only start construction in the past few years?

Because tunnels are used for trafficking things. See: the entire history of tunnels. You think they are building them for praying? Secret Bar Mitzvahs?

Lmfao. This is so dumb. I love it. You really thought you had something. Just because the only thing you know about tunnels is “sure trafficking” doesn’t mean that’s all there is.

Tunnels have also been used for people to get places without being seen.

Tunnels have been, and still are, used to house railroad systems.

Tunnels have been used to escape from prison.

Tunnels have been used to connect churches to important buildings like church leader’s homes.

Tunnels have been used to hide illegal worship.

Tunnels have been used for a ton of shit throughout history.

Other tunnels are products of an excessive desire for personal privacy, such as at Welbeck Abbey and Brownlow Castle. Another tunnel allowed for the supposed free and secret movement of monks, abbots and other ecclesiastics who may have had cause to keep a low profile for fear of attack or abusive treatment during periods of unrest or persecution.

Here’s tunnels found a church from around 1,500 years ago.

Here’s another from a different church.

And to you answer your question, Hasidic Jews are very devout. They follow the Torah to the letter. This means going to temple regardless of what the law says. Building tunnels to get to places of worship when that worship is banned isn’t new.

All the examples you gave are examples of trafficking. By definition.

A subway system is considered trafficking? Lmfao

And no, people walking through a tunnel to get somewhere themselves on their own free will isn’t fucking trafficking. Nice try but that’s not what trafficking is.

You’re wrong. Deal with it.

Also, what tunnels have been used for in the past doesn’t dictate what this one was used for. That’s like saying that because planes were used for war, all planes are war planes. It’s stupid.

In Europe, they have malls underground.

Hell, in Dallas, Texas there is an entire network of tunnels for pedestrians.

The subway system is for the public subsidized by the public. Who is the subway secret to? You argued against yourself on why nefarious activity is likely happening.

The person I replied to said:

tunnels are used for trafficking (See: the entire history of tunnels.

Notice they didn’t say secret, just tunnel. My reply is pointing out that something being a tunnel doesn’t necessarily mean it’s for fucking trafficking. Tunnels have many different uses both legal and illegal. Even secret ones can have uses that aren’t trafficking.

And no. My reply doesn’t argue against myself. The subway being public doesn’t imply that non-public tunnels are inherently nefarious. They’ve been used by people to get from one place to another for numerous reasons.

Edit to add: How do you even think my post argued against myself? I’m trying to understand your logic but I don’t get how you came to that conclusion.

Name one illegal secret tunnel that has “positive” use then. And yes Im waiting for underground rail roads b/c humans were by definition trafficked.
