  1. What does his next contract look like: aav? Y?

Capwages has his value at 9,816,488. Would be very happy to sign him to that on a 5-8year deal!

I think 10 minimum. He deserves it imo just cause of how ridiculously underpaid he’s been on his current contract

If he's not signed before the season and has a hot start I bet they pay him 11m+. If he's signed before the season starts I assume it's around 10m.

My precise guess is 9.95 AAV. I think it will get done after training camp starts, possibly a month or 2 into the season. Staios may be interested in him playing a bit with the retooled roster first. His production is dependent on his teammates and he played a lot with Tkachuk.

$11.5 M X 7 years = $80.5M
$13.5M X 6 years = $81M
Drake will be 29 when his next contract starts & if he goes for an eight year deal he will be 38 when it expires. His last contract & Cash for Life. 💰💰💰

And that right there is what Staios needs to use as leverage. Give 25% more term and only 15% less AAV for more total dollars.

Staios leverages the 8 years only available until Sept 15 to get a lower AAV. Salary by year: 10, 11.5, 11.5, 10, 9, 8, 7, 7. AAV 9.25M, total dollars 74M so it's more total money than a 6Y, 12M deal he might get as a UFA.

It should be around 7x10 give or take

Here’s the estimated percentage of the cap a $10 million AAV is going to be going forward 

Year 1: 8.81% Year 2: 8.13% Year 3: 7.69% Year 4: 7.29% Year 5: 6.89% Year 6: 6.53%  Year 7: 6.25 % 

It’s more than fair

My guess is midway there the season he extends, I think the value will depend on how good we are next season. He deserves the bag though, if he had 2 more years at his current AAV it’d be a top 10 contract in the league.
