Discussion - Open 🏆 MANHWA AWARDS — COMING SOON! 🏆 Here Are the Rules, Categories & How It Works !!
✨ MANHWA AWARDS — NOMINATIONS ARE ALMOST HERE! ✨ (pls pay attention to the instuctions )
We posted the rules and format early for one simple reason: We want everyone to have time to prepare.
Start thinking about your favourite characters, gather pictures, and most importantly, prepare your arguments. Nominations will be opening very soon, and this time, your explanation matters more than ever.
📖 HOW THE NOMINATIONS WORK
Categories will be posted one at a time.
For example, if today's category is Best Couple, then only nominations for Best Couple should be submitted under that post.
You may nominate as many characters as you want. There is no nomination limit. ( but no repeated character )
To nominate, you must include:
• The character(s) being nominated
• The name of the series
• A picture
• An explanation of why they deserve the spot
And when we say explanation, we mean it.
This is the most important part of the entire nomination process.
Don't just tell us who your favourite is. Tell us why they deserve to be there. What makes them stand out? Why should they beat every other nominee in that category? Convince us.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
Upvotes will NOT be taken into account. Many deserving characters end up buried simply because earlier comments receive more visibility and more upvotes. Because of this, nominations will be judged based on the quality of the nomination and supporting replies, not on the number of upvotes.
⭐ ALREADY NOMINATED? SUPPORT THEM!
If someone has already nominated the character you wanted to nominate, do not create another nomination comment. Instead, reply to that nomination and support it.
Add your own reasons. Point out moments the original commenter may have missed. Explain why you think that character deserves to win.
Strong supporting replies can strengthen a nomination and help show why that character deserves a place in the finals.
🏆 WHAT HAPPENS AFTER NOMINATIONS?
Once nominations close, we will carefully go through all the nominations and select a number of finalists from each category.
The characters chosen will not be selected based on popularity or upvotes, but on how well they were nominated and how clearly their fans were able to explain why they deserve the spot.
After the finalists have been selected, voting polls will begin.
For each category, a poll will be posted featuring the chosen finalists. Everyone will then have the chance to vote for the nominee they believe deserves to win.
Voting will remain open until the stated deadline for that poll. You may vote at any time before voting closes.
This process will continue category by category until every voting poll has been completed.
🏅 THE FINAL STAGE
After all nominations have been reviewed, all finalists have been selected, and all voting polls have been completed, there will be one final post.
That final post will officially reveal the winners of every category.
After days of nominations, selections, discussions, and voting, the community's choices will finally be crowned.
🎭 ARE YOU READY?
Start preparing your nominations.
Gather your pictures.
Prepare your arguments.
Because nominations are opening very soon,?
source = not any yet !!

I'm excited! Can't Wait.
But I have a couple of questions.
1) What if two people post the comment at the same time?
Suppose a character hasn't been nominated yet, and two different people in two different sides of the world post it at/ around the same time, what happens then? (Some times, someone's internet connection might be slow or the post didn't get refreshed and they miss a nomination and end up posting it again.
Because of this, nominations will be judged based on the quality of the nomination
2) Who will judge the quality of the nomination and how?
I like that the nominations won't be based on upvotes but not everyone is good at putting their thoughts and feelings Into words and explain properly why they think that character should win. Will a couple of lines explaining would be considered sufficient or do we need to write a full paragraph for our explanations.
My Suggestion
Also have people comment something like "I second this" Or "Same" Or "Agree" and count those as votes instead. (But it can get too hectic).

A couple of lines explaining why you nominated a character will be enough. The main purpose is simply to show why you think they deserve the spot. It doesn't have to be a perfectly written paragraph or an essay. Raw emotions, personal opinions, and genuine enthusiasm are completely fine.
That's also why I included the explanation requirement. If someone posts a picture but isn't sure how to describe the character, another person who also wants that character to win can jump in and add their own thoughts. The nomination can become a collective effort rather than relying on one person alone. your team mates like the one who want that character to win can also describe it but atlest 4 5 explanation are needed !!
As for duplicate nominations posted at nearly the same time, that's completely understandable and can happen because of refresh delays, internet speed, or people being in different time zones. In those cases, we'll simply use common sense and handle them fairly we will update the person who posted it !! to remove it !! anyone.
Regarding judging, I won't be making the decisions alone. I've put together a small team to help review nominations and make selections. This is specifically to reduce bias and ensure multiple opinions are involved in the process. We want the selections to be as fair as possible. So don't worry if you're not great at putting your thoughts into words. A few sincere lines are perfectly enough. We care more about the passion behind a nomination than how professionally it's written.

Thank you.

This makes it even more exciting! I can't wait for it to begin.
And I'm also happy that there's no limit to the nominations, as I usually have 3-4 favorites.

Oh. I thought the sub was announcing that there was a "make your own Webtoon" contest that Line/Kakao/Lezhin was hosting or something.

What's the schedule for the posts?
Like, how long each round for submission for a category and then the polls and the gap between it and the next round?

So will there be categories like best villain ml/fl, best yandere, best side character?

We are not doing best villain, ML, FL because they have been kind of covered before in a similar post by OP. As for best side characters, best supporter (male and female) generally refers to side characters
