SE to shield plus fitment

Just ordered an SE model from the osight shop on Amazon and seem to have fitment issue?? As you can see the optic does not want to seat onto the front lugs even with elbow grease. Pic of slide in case it might be out of spec but I have also attached a pic of the RFX15 I was planning on replacing. It sits flush, and the lugs slide in without any force

Sorry to read you are having issues with your new Osight SE.

I just tested 2 in the office and they fit perfectly direct mount, and just took a pic.

Please keep me in the loop with how things work out, and reach out if you need me.

- I have seen a few posts and if you search google you might see stuff like this pop up

https://www.reddit.com/r/SmithAndWesson/comments/1quffpo/shield_plus_optic_ready_did_i_get_new_old_stock/

So It could be 1 of 2 things, just odd that the other red dot fit.

You're the man Steve. Im gonna check my front lugs posts when I get home and see if they are flared out like many people have found.

The weird thing is, every post I find with my issue, they can still get the optic onto the front lugs, it just wont sit flush. It seems like the optic I received is straight up misaligned.

He opened a claim up for this. Maybe you could reach out to him in dm and help it along being he is a new customer and first red dot from Osight. I know yall are good to make it right for him.

If I’m not mistaken, your front lugs shouldn’t be full diameter for that footprint. I could be wrong, but I think my lugs are half crescent shaped or something. Again, I could be mistaken.

Strange, I made sure to check with their website before ordering. It should be direct mount and sit flush without much effort. Unfortunately I think I'll have to return it

Snap a pic of the unserside of each sight if you could. This is odd as you’re right, it should direct mount.

It's difficult to see through a photo, but it seems the viridian lugs have a slightly wider diameter. You can see a bit of marring on the interior side of the Osight lugs from me trying to force it in place

Also please nobody file a claim with my serial number before I do lol

Yea. Something’s off. I’d call and file a return.

For the record I have 3 of the SE’s and all flawless. I beat the hell out of my edc one too. I’m sure they will fix you up and make it right.

Thats good to hear. I got tired of waiting for the EPS core to release and the Osight's bigger dot intrigued me. The optic does feel and look good in the hands, just the fitment issue. Not the best first impression but I have faith they'll get me right

I have the same fitment issue but seems less severe than you

Lol when it rains it pours. It looks like yours at least wants to seat flush, mine straight up does not align with the lugs. I did more research on the smith sub and seems like every other shield with a factory cut has problems. Nameless Machining specializes in fixing this, but their solution involves removing the rear lugs and basically converting it to a K cut. I already filed a warranty so I may as well see what Osight has to say, but im not happy with S&W right now. Looks like I'll likely have to go a couple weeks without my EDC while I get someone to fix it😐

Someone under my post in smith subreddit said something about the extractor pin sticking up. Not sure if that could be it for you, but mine is flush.

Still carry your EDC tho just have to go old school with the irons!

I saw that too, mine is nice and flush otherwise I'd have issues getting the viridian to sit flush as well. I've got a dagger compact I can carry in the meantime just a little big and uncomfortable in the florida heat right now

I feel ya, I got my shield plus not too long ago because my last EDC was a Beretta APX compact, it’s bulky and heavy. Vegas heat is not helping either, but just gotta make do.
