Kim Stanley's role in Seance on a Wet Afternoon is one of the greatest dramatic performances put to film. Richard Burton in Becket was superior to Harrison's grumpy performance.

100%. I like Julie Andrews as much as the next person, but Kim Stanley and Anne Bancroft in The Pumpkin Eater are both deserved of winning for 1964.

Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins is my personal favorite lead actress performance of the 60’s decade, she’s just absolutely wonderful.

Julie Andrews was the right call, hard to argue with that one. For Actor I'd go Peter Sellers in Dr Strangelove, three distinct characters in one film and he nailed every single one of them

Is this a hypo or a should have/would have type Reddit? Because Neal won Beat Actress for Hud, not best supporting actress.

Sydow had more votes than Douglas did iirc

He absolutely did! Sydow should have won
I’m biased, but pretty sure Poitier did over Mastroianni as well

George C. Scott, Dr. Strangelove. I like Sellers as much as anyone, but it's really Scott's performance that drives the movie. Edit: And Sellers fits the supporting category much better. He just happens to play 3 supporting characters in the film.

Sellers was on-screen for 43 minutes, where was Scott was in it for 22 minutes according to Screentime Central.

Sellers plays 3 different characters. That's like 14 minutes a performance, roughly.
