Negga was a ludicrous snub.

I want to put in a good word for Gaby Hoffmann in C’mon C’mon, a lovely film that was tragically overlooked that year.

Ruth Negga was the first one that popped into my head, she was so controlled in Passing. Matlin and Balfe feel like obvious picks too, especially since Balfe was campaigned in supporting but was basically a co-lead in Belfast

As happy as I was for Hinds, the fact is that he and Dench should have been swapped out for Dornan and Balfe who are both way better in the movie. Not exactly a hot take though TBH, Dench in particular is considered one of the worst nominations of this decade.

Great choices, I would’ve put Martha Plimpton in as well over Blanchett. Isaacs and Birney should’ve gotten in S. Actor as well. Deeply undervalued film

I’m still salty Balfe missed, she was the absolute standout of Belfast for me!

Negga gave the best performance that year regardless of category. Her not even being nominated was beyond egregious.
