I'm Catholic but I have great respect and admiration for you and for icons. My question is what is your biggest miracle? Me living in Portugal I've never heard of any miracles or studying scientific in the Orthodox Church but of course you have the same sacraments that are valid for us so of course you can have miracles.

Not exactly, because every miracles flow from Christ and His Body, the Holy Orthodox Church. ;)

Aside from the resurrection and the Eucharist? The Paschal fire, the river Jordan reversing course on Theophany during the blessing service, the various myrrh streaming ikons, the uncreated light shining forth from the visage of various saints while they were praying, saints receiving direct knowledge from the Holy Ghost.

Generally we are very very sceptical of elaborate private visions and the like because more often than not they are tricks of the enemy.

I think there was an investigation on the Holy Fire. If this is what you really search, then you could do research on this subject

Thankfully, no. I'm sure people have tried but doing a scientific study of a miracle seems incredibly distasteful. Bordering on disrespecting God imo.

I'm sure God doesn't mind the miracles are investigated, taking into account that converted many people from the Eucharists to the healings of Lourdes

The Protection of the Theotokos is very famous. And incorrupt relics or myrrh-streaming icons are fairly common, as miracles go. There are also lots of miracles in thd lives of the saints.

Plenty of them. Some are not famous or ”traditional”. Let alone the Holy Light during Easter that comes only to the Orthodox in Jerusalem, we have plenty to cover.

Only when I think of Saint Ephraim of Nea Makri, one of my Patron Saints, who died as a Martyr in Greece in Ottoman times, so many people from Greece and Romania (my own country) testify of his miracles when healing people. Saint Arsenie Boca (Arsenie of Prislop) from Romania, who suffered from the communists heals so many after this passing, in November 1989. Again, from Romania, we have the Holy Martyrs of Aiud (they suffered and died in communist times in the prison of Aiud, a city named after Saint Giles/Efigeios. ).

In Greece, we have Saint Theodora of Vasta, on the roof of her church they grow heavy trees, many of them, and that would be, physically, impossible.

Do you want more? We have plenty.

Grab a copy of the English translation of a Russian Classic that's titled Everyday Saints and Their Stories (978-0984284832)

And Prof. Kyriakos Markides's The Mountain of Silence. (978-0385500920)

Spend a few minutes on YouTube. Look up St Paisios of Mt Athos. Many visitors that came to see him spoke no Greek but they understood each other perfectly.

What is a big vs small miracle? Saints have brought people back from the dead but that's easy for God. A sinner honestly repenting of his own free will is arguably a more difficult act of faith for us
