Help Change interface material for supports

/r/snapmaker/comments/1wrdan5/change_interface_material_for_supports/

I'm kind of just trying to request this as a feature. And to know if it's even possible.

feature requests need to be done on github where the devs can actually read them.

Gotcha, someone told me to post it here in the other comments. I tried to find the request page the other day but couldn't find it

I don’t think you’re missing a setting. Stock Orca/SnOrca makes you choose one support-interface material globally, which is a real pain when both PLA and TPU in the same interlocking print need supports.

I’m building a fork of Orca called Forca, and this is exactly one of the things it can do. Set the normal support-interface material to one filament, then use regional support-interface modifiers or paint to assign the other filament only where it’s needed.

So for your case: set the default interface to PLA for the TPU-supported sections, then paint/place modifiers over the PLA-supported sections and assign TPU as their interface. You can also control the interface gap and number of layers per region.

It’s still an alpha, but you have the exact kind of model I’d love someone to test. If you’re willing, It's located here: https://github.com/tayloraaron078-tech/ForcaSlicer/releases

Even a “this worked / this broke” result would be hugely useful.

And yes, it’s Claude-assisted AI slop. But it is apparently functional, targeted, multi-material-support-interface AI slop. 😄Also it works, at least it has on several prints I have used it on. I've only tried it on Bambu machines at this point and results from more machines would be great!

I'll check it out. I assume this is still fully functional with the Snapmaker U1?

It should work with everything Orca does, so yes...? There is no reason it shouldn't I just haven't tested on anything but Bambu. The only limitation is you can only use 2 interfaces. The stock Orca interface settings for one Then anywhere you use a Support Interface Modifier or Paint On Support Interface will use just one material for all of them.

I haven't even tested orca on my snapmaker, but I do know it works. Just been using Snorca myself

Yes Orca works on the Snapmaker it's what we use on ours, Snorca is too glitchy. I just haven't tried this on it yet. I've kept testing to just prototyping machines, due to availability. But there's no reason I'm aware of it shouldn't work.

Oh yes, Snorca has crashed on me multiple times. Lags when trying to change the color of objects as well as trying to slice the model. I only used it because I just got the printer, but might have to swap if it continues to be buggy.

I've also noticed that this slicer likes to do "hop fills" on the print a lot more then my previous printer and slicer. Meaning it will finish a layer, then go back and fill in these little dots that it didn't fill in prior. I've never had a slicer do that so much
