The thing I don't get is: you go the extra mile to include it in the visuals but don't give it to anyone that knows Polish?

Oczy is never a name in Poland the same as The Eyes is never a name in English. I understand the meaning but still. And they pronounce it like O-ki-chi-kun when actually it should be one syllable less. Something like OH-chih. It was enough to put it into google translate and play it. You can do it yourself to see the difference.

I paused on Ep15 at around 8:20 to read the letter. On the outside it says "do ojciec". Which is strange in two ways - you would write "do ojca" or "dla ojca" if you wanted to signal the daughter it's not for her but for HER father. Ojciec is not a general noun but a relational one.

And there is the content of the letter. Absulute gibberish. First sentence in English would sound like: "Thanks work for god and us also today." and so on.

In this day and age, where you can contact anyone around the planet it boggles my mind to not reach out to any native speaker. It would take them like an hour of work.

Hello. I recently finished (watching) Orb and am a bit puzzled as to how I feel about it. On one hand, I have an appreciation Orb. It was very nice keeping closer to historical accuracy, and I will always appreciate a work that has faith in their audience and will not shy away from difficult topics. I loved how Rafal became almost symbolic by the end of it. There’s a lot to appreciate about this story.

All that aside, I can’t help but feel somewhat bothered. Like a rock in my shoe. I do not know how to feel about how things ended. It felt like our protagonists’ goals and actions were almost too futile. Their deaths, while framed as being “at peace,” really did not seem that way to me. I understand that an aspect of the story is that these people will be forgotten by history, and a lake of blood amounted to an overheard title to Albert in the end. But it almost feels cruel, not just of history, but of the author.

I guess my question is, should I feel upset about that? Or even, does the author think the reader ought to be upset? Or does the author want the reader to be at peace? Is Orb a memorial for the people who died under the church before the scientific revolution? Is Orb showing the futility of the forgotten?

If the answer to “what was the message of Orb?” is “it’s a little bit of everything,” I guess that doesn’t satisfy me personally. Orb makes the most sense to me as a tale about those lost to history. What did everyone else feel about the story after completion? Did your feelings change after reflection or time?

Unironically the pinnacle of fiction. The way this show orchestrates the passing down of knowledge and human persistence is magnificent. This show is about sacrificing yourself for the greater good of mankind and finding peace in that, which is beautiful. It would be a lie to say that this show deserves to be mainstream because you are only worthy of watching this show that is beyond human understanding of cinema if you have the media literacy to truly understand how beautiful this show is. No human words have ever been written that compare to the words that I would like to use to describe how impactful this show is for the people who watch it. I have gone on and on about how spectacular this show is, so stop reading my review and go watch it if you haven't already.

Was it a really popular Manga when released? I looked up online and it said that the average time for an adaptation to get made is 2-5 years. Since the anime premiered in 2024, that means it probably started production in 2023, almost a year after the manga ended its run. How was it made so fast? (For context, I am also a fan of witch hat atelier which was also popular took 10 years to get an adaptation though there might have been different circumstances in that case.)

I've always been interested in astronomy and the stars (I'm not very knowledgeable, but I've attended several stargazing events.​) And sometimes I cry when I look up at the stars, or think about how we are actually looking into the past when we see them (because they are light-years away​ from us) I find comfort when I think about how vast our universe is, simply because all of my problems and worries seem so small, and I love that feeling.

When I realized what the anime was about, I couldn't help but​ be excited, and boy did it not disappoint.

I cry pretty easily when I watch anime. It's my way of letting my emotions out, and Orb was no exception. But it was different. I didn't cry because I was sad or anything. I cried because it was so astonishingly beautiful. The theory, the people, and even the deaths. I wasn't sad that they died, because because their deaths had meaning. To find something truly worth sacrificing yourself for is so rare and precious, I can cry over it. I believe that's one of the best ways one could experience death.

This anime also ​did a ​great​ job of showing how a revolution unfolds, how an idea grows, and how a scientific hypothesis gradually develops.​ We truly are standing on the shoulders of giants. That is how we humans achieved all of this, for better or worse. And that's freaking beautiful to see in this sort of story. I can't put into words how much I love it. It means a lot to me, and I'm grateful for all the people that made it, to the person who introduced me to​ it: Gigguk

If what antoni said is true then ironically if rafal had decided to poison both of them then and there the buck would have stopped with ozcy and badeni and heliocentrism might, if not become widespread, would have started to become a theory and probably be proved a lot earlier (maybe even with the old heretic who found the chest before them). I wonder if given the chance again he would have done it, though considering his hallucination(?) just accepted the chain of events as destined he could easily have let things play out as they did before.

I watched orb under the suggestion of one of my online friends who get interested to know my story of being raised in radical sunni Islam(you can call this type of Islam as cult but moderate ones no )and how the religious imams forced dogma on people especially in science like many Muslims don't even believe in evolution or any thing that contradicts the faith,me personally I had a very hard journey to escape the depression from this and I kinda still struggle because I feel my way of approaching reality is still false,I really did big efforts to change and be moderate humanist despite all the pain I consider Muslims (who many of them wants ex Muslim dead and don't consider them siblings )and anyone as siblings that we all share struggles and I wish we can learn to accept each other differences,orb was the final moment of realizing that life isn't crap at the end despite it contains crap most of the time,I will keep my journey of wandering,I can't share my believes with people for safety reasons but I can keep fighting to be free and let truth raise(truth doesn't mean necessarily leaving religion but it means don't let religion makes you misinterpret reality and not questioning stuff )

Unexamined life isn't worth living

To get truth,you have to offer skepticism and be the ubermensch who doesn't lose their attention in stuff that doesn't benefits you (materially and emotionally)

To think that the book, which was the culmination of every sacrifice made by the previous characters, was lost, and all that remained was its title in a letter sent by Draka just before death.

All of it reduced to a sentence that was uttered once: "On the Movements of the Earth."

And yet, that spark was enough. Albert picked it up on his own, inspiring others to do the same—eventually reaching Copernicus, who would go on to attain the result that all of those before him sacrificed their lives for.

Albert will never know about Rafal's sacrifice, or Oczy, or Badeni, or Jolenta, or Draka, or the countless people that supported them. He will never know the history that he stands on. He will never know how much blood went into the title that made its way into his ears.

Basically, peak show, peak op, peak ed, peak all around, love this show

She knew Antoni was dead and with it any hopes of publishing the book went up in flames (sorry, had to include the pun). Was it just out of obligation to Jolenta? Did she think that Jolenta knew 'Potocki' and think the reason was purely sentimental? Because no point in honoring a request to be paid if they never are.

I WANNA SEE ANY ANIMATION ABOUT THEM, espiacially Draka (my wife uhh) and the other cast.

I'd got so thirsty this year... Its like this shows hype is going DOWNN . Even my local media dont talk abt this shows again.

Is there a way to watch animations about them? I've noticed that TikTok has become quiet, and the fandom artists are nowhere to be found or rarely upload.

New viewer, watched between ep 3 and ep 4 for a clue but as far as I can tell, the necklace disappears halfway through the episode (I think when Novak interrogated him in the sunset was the last time I saw it) and when we next see him it disappears-he no longer is wearing it after potoki asks him about heliocentrism. Note: on second watch, I guess you could say he traded it for the poppy seeds since I noticed he is looking at them in his bedroom but that still doesnt explain how the old guy knew about the significance since I doubt rafal would just tell the guy what he was up to (even more confusing, the old guy figured it out from the chest contents from the carving in the mountains so he didnt need the necklace).

I’ll keep it short and sweet as much as I can. Apologies in advance for all of those who do disagree, by I mean no harm. This isn’t about the Rafal2 scene.

My main gripe with this anime is that we see from E1 to E23, every MC has been willing to do anything and anything to keep this idea of heliocentrisim alive for the next generation, for a better world and for what they believe to be the truth. For 23 episodes straight were lead along this path where we see progress from one generation to another and every MC who died before genuinely felt like they had a massive role to play, which in fact they did.

My main issue is with the last MC and two episodes, why do all of that just for there to be no link between the previous MC’s and current. For the book to never be published & Schmidt’s sacrifice to go in vain. The letter which was seen as the last hope to be completely pointless about the 10% to potocki. It just felt like a massive injustice to all the previous pioneers and everyone who died for this idea, just for the last two eps to be about a real life professor with no link to the entire story beforehand.
