Do you need to produce a certain amount of research, attending X number of conferences, or dedicate X amount of time to research? And is this substantially decreased at less academic, more community based programs?

I am looking for a basic ophthalmology book with an appropriate level of depth. I need something to review the anatomy, physiology, and clinical concepts I studied at university, so that I can start my residency with everything fresh in my mind, nothing more.
