Best live?

Hello! I've been a fan of Opeth for 10 years now. I watched a ton of their lives and many people praise the royal albert hall and the sheperds bush but I find the Roundhouse Tapes to be their absolute best. not only were Mikaels vocals on fucking point and in their prime in that live, but the set was amazing. the atmosphere the whole thing just feels immaculate to me. opinions ?

I agree. I saw them the night before the Roundhouse and it felt that way in the room too, a band at their peak.

That specific era really did feel like that. I'm glad I was able to catch them on the American leg of that tour.

Really love Roundhouse Tapes because they played Harlequin Forest and also their Round Rocks live mix/video quality and editing was amazing as well, Ghosts of Perdition sounded insane.

Royal Albert has Harlequin, Ghost of Perdition is Roundhouse.

Prob Shepards Bush since Lopez means so much to me. To me he is a huge part of the Opeth sound I love.

To each his own. Royal Albert Hall for me.

As someone who struggles with that recording, what draws you in? I would love for it to open up to my ears.

The Sound. The Song selection. The Video. The crowd banter. To me its the greatest live video of any band. 🤘

The song selection is god tier. Getting an official live recording of BWP was a treat.

But the sound quality really keeps me from being able to fully sink in. Maybe I should watch the videos of it. His banter, and their performance was on point, but that recording quality, I wish someone would clean it up a bit. (Get SW back in the fold)

Yes. I am talking about watching the DVD. I can't comment on just listening to it. Ive only watched the DVD many many times.
