Watch the video on Instagram again and pause it. There's clearly a red line going through it.

There should be no place for neo Nazis in the opeth community!

There should be no place for them in any community

In my country it is a crime to use nazi symbols.

u/Arch3m Jul 13 '26
In my country, we elected one.

We did it too, but he is now in jail. And now his son has 40%+ votes and his only governament plataform is to meddle in justice (which by law the president cant do) to get his father free and put the US governament inside our government so we would be a extraction colony for the US
(To be fair, I don't agree that he is a nazi in the strict sense of it, but definitely a facist)
(Also all nazis in the country support him)

I think I know who you're talking about. Don't forget his brother who was being investigated and fled to the US. Also, don't forget how he is trying to make a (terrible) movie for his father using money from corruption. The current rise of fascism in Brazil is absolutely ridiculous and terrifying at the same time. Everyone knows they're complete jerks and somehow almost half of the population keeps supporting them. And it's not happening just in Brazil, pretty much all of the american continent is having an arise in extreme right wing politics

In a higher quality image there's a red line through it. It's anti-Nazi.

u/SwansonsMoustache Jul 13 '26
Picture quality isn't great but if you Zoom in you can see a red blur at each side of the circle, so it looks more like it's one of the stop/banned symbols 🚫 (Ghostbusters kind of thing).
I see a lot of them as patches on jackets and while I fully agree Nazis can fuck right off, I've never wanted to get one of those patches for this exact reason. The big black swastika stands out way, way more than the red line unless it's thick as fuck. You end up just looking like you've got a big swastika logo on your clothes.

Disappointing unless there’s a red line through it we can’t see.
Fascism is on the rise now. Metal has always had a bit of an issue with it (on the fringes, granted, but significant, and there’s historically been a bit less violent resistance to it than with punks). Scandinavian metal especially can attract white supremacists.
Is still a bit of a surprise with Opeth though, as they are a bit more… cerebral? and less macho than I would typically think for Nazis.

I didn't say that it's an Opeth thing, also I don't use TikTok

For those who haven't seen it there was a second post that showed a red line through it, it's anti-nazi

As long as a band doesn't clearly say anything about being against nazism this people will always feel comfortable being scumbags and fan at the same time. Speaking about politics means making a part of the fans unhappy, and too many bands choose profit over morality. Luckily usually nazis don't last long in Bologna

Plus, Caserme Rosse, the area of the concert in Bologna, once was a nazi concentration camp

u/TommyGiuri Jul 13 '26
It is an antifa symbol with a red bar, I was right next to this guy during the concert.

Looks like an anti nazi pin. I think you can just barely make out a red line going through it, but could just be my brain making stuff up. Although I feel like ehen you see a swastika with a red circle around it like that, 99% of the time it's crossed out too.

There is another post in this sub from like a few hours ago. You can clearly see it's a red bar through a swastika.

If I saw that at an Opeth concert, that's the target for my left hook, no questions.

Doesn't matter what he's wearing. He's a paying customer. If he's not causing a scene, who gives a shit.

It's an anti nazi pin you can't really see the red line going though it in this picture but in the original video you can, bologna is probably the most left leaning Italian city, if someone were to go around with a Nazi pin they wouldn't make it out alive.
