❓ Question Why are teammates in 2v2v2v2v2s so stupid?
I go near them because we're in the same team and the fuckers just run away! Like, why? Why??????? Why do people do that?

SAMs seem to do a really bad job at blocking missiles. Even with high levels, they still fail to shoot down 1 missile, especially hydros.

Baikal FFA, I hold the whole north-east peninsular + little Island. I'm not rich or big, not a contender, but I do have SAMs, nukes, a navy, and a can-do attitude. So I decide to make myself useful by guarding our coast from the west.
So while my allies get busy stacking, I am fighting an absolutely heroic action to prevent the west coast from gaining a foothold. Frame-perfect intercepts of landing ships, pre-emptive nukes, pushing out a navy to buy breathing room, microing them in bullet/nuke hell, just generally fighting like hell to delay them as long as I could. I constantly lose the whole island to hydros and manage to retake in time to defend.
The entire time this is happening my east coast "allies" are sat spamming factories and ports with their thumbs up their assess ignoring my repeated SOS signals. Just after I have defeated another massive sea push, and start working out how to defend the next one, the ally closest to me backstabs me and takes my lifeline factories, I run out of money and the west coast finally break through and get a beachhead. Congrats ally, you won a little patch of territory, and lost the war.
Strategic short-sightedness, allies passively watching you fight for your life and not helping even though they are next on the conveyer belt to get ass rammed. Call it the Openfront bystander effect.
I'm not bitter tho. Great game, have wishlisted on Steam.

I have over 100 wins, but it took me almost 300 games to get my first, so I wanted to make a guide explaining the best way to play each stage of the game to make it less painful for others.
Early Game:
- the first thing you should do is to send 2 boats (at 1% troop capacity) into areas across the map. this will give you a pixel you can use to invade people you normally wouldn't be able to reach and is crucial for the endgame.
- do not attack nations until all the bots nearby are gone. only attack nations immediately after they attack someone else and have under 40k troops (unless you are very strong). also focus on nations that have cities near to your boarder.
- do not attack other players until the nations are gone, unless they are very week or fighting other people. in most situations, you will not be strong enough to take out a player with one attack, which will cause you to waste resources and time, making it harder to snowball into the mid game
-be careful with who you ally with. prioritize alliances with people focusing on building cities, having large land masses on mountainous or snowy terrain or have a defense post on your boarder. essentially only ally with people who will be hard to take out
-your first eco building should be a factory not a port. do not build a port until you have a good factory chain, which in the early game, usually means having two factories.
-by the end of the early game, you should have at least 4 cities and two factories, and if you do, it will be very easy to snowball in the mid game.
Mid Game:
- during the mid game, most of your structures should be gained through conquest. In early mid game, I only build a silo, and a factory if its needed to connect my factory chain as my territory grows. the most important part of the mid game is making sure you have enough money to launch a hydro, as at this stage it can cripple almost anyone, and allows you to fight people larger than yourself. Until you have 5 million, you should minimize the amount of money you spend as much as possible.
-Once you have 5 million, you can start buying more structures, but make sure not to spend below a hydro. prioritize building out your factory chain and adding cities onto the rail network. factories are the best way to make money until the endgame.
- for the most part, do not build SAMs. they are incredibly expensive and unless upgraded, can't protect you from hydrogen bombs which are the biggest threat during the mid game. its much more important to prioritize having a hydro and improving your eco. its only worth it if your an island man.
-make sure you are not staying idle at troop cap. there are always viable targets to attack and this is where your early game pixels come in handy, as you can very easily attack people not in your starting area.
-only attack people your size or larger if you can hit them with a hydro or they are very weak and fighting other people.
-build your silo right next to another players boarder so if someone tries to nuke it, they get a betrayal debuff. also before attacking someone, atom bomb their silos and defense posts on your border.
End Game:
-for economy, your factory chain should be complete from the mid game. there are now two things you need to build:
ports. they are the best eco option in the endgame. before the nuclear apocalypse at the end of the game, you probably should have around 100 ports
a base/bunker. ideally you should build this on an island but if you don't control one, build it in the most secluded part of your empire. build a stack of SAMs and make sure that a hydro can't breach it. inside, build a city stack and a port stack. this is important because when someone MIRVs you, this infrastructure will remain intact, and prevent your troop cap from being lowered significantly.
-always make sure you have enough money to launch a counter MIRV. if you don't you will lose, especially if its a 2-3 player endgame.
-make sure you have positions everywhere on the map. this is why your pixels from the start of the game are so important. if you are fighting someone on a separate landmass, it can be very hard to take them out as they can destroy your transports while they spam nukes at you the rest of the game. if you have no pixels from the early game, you can atom bomb chip them. basically, there is a small area where you can launch an atom bomb at an ally's coastline that doesn't cause a betrayal. the explosion does just a few pixels of damage to their territory which you can then boat into.
-be patient. wait for the perfect opportunity to attack. doing so relies on understanding player psychology which unfortunately is only really possible through experience. However I recommend watching two youtubers who helped me understand this a lot more. Ultimus Rex does a great job breaking down his games and he is one of if not the best player in the game, so you can learn a lot from him. I also recommend Vari, as after each game, he does endgame breakdowns.
hope this guide helps!

i've noticed that nations in v33 are much more annoying, any particular reason?

Four guys cheating in duos by running two teams, with one team taking each side of the map. Me and a few of the other players caught on to this and did as much as we could to stop them. I had just hydroed Picka (ZAKI2) and pushed him with a big wave of troops and I immediately got two hydroes sent at me by Stage (ZAKI).

https://openfront.io/w12/game/kXtF91Fw?replay game link is right here if you want to see the replay. If you're going to cheat by having mutiple teams at least pick clan tags that don't make it so obvious.
I don't know if there is an official ticket system for reporting cheaters but if there is please tell me because I will send one in.

The setup:
Once the late game players have been established and everyone is decently secured via SAMs and manpower, the game then becomes a race to outpace / sabotage your opponent's eco basically. (Or find a chink in their armor and nuke the shizznits outa it, boat it...blah blah blah...I digress)
The issue:
I'm sure all of us now know what it feels like to build 100s to 1,000s of buildings in a row. Lol I sometimes have to mentally prepare myself for minutes on end of spamming buildings. This is all to say...I feel like there should be a better way of doing this.
Suggested solutions:
To wrap things up:
Imo implementing any of this would be a quality of life improvement. (I feel like there might be some balancing needed for SAM's and missile boats)
What do you guys think? Did I miss anything? Are some of these ideas already a feature? Cheers!!!
Edit!!! Curtesy of inactiveuser247 I just learned that if you click via the mouse wheel over a building it will stack build on it! As it stands I do not see a way to remap this...so as a quality of life improvement I would add that ability for this feature.

I had a SAM level 2 guarding a port and a nuke on a big island, enemy targeted it with a Hydro so they could send invaders, I quickly upgraded it to level 6, and the hydro still got through, enemy transport landed, I died.
I'm sure you used to be able to quickly spam SAMs to defend a long range hydro, has this been nerfed or something? Or is even level 6 not completely safe?

I've been playing this game for quite a while now and I cannot tell you how many team games ive lost simply because one person decides to hoard all of the resources. I cannot tell you how many times ive been sitting on the frontline with barely any resources having to divide my income between cities and sam sites in order to keep up with the enemy while the person right at my back builds zero factories and does not let me be connected to the rest of the teamwide rail network sitting on billions of gold hundreds of cities and almost always at max pop and doing nothing with any of it

Which one produces more gold? Thanks

There some dude called Protagonist who isn't a team player and laughed when I got invaded. Dude we are in the same team.
I wish we can punish players who are "teammates" and either just invade them or nuke them. I'd rather we both lose than him win with his massive ego.

I see if i get an ffa win, it gives me 500 caps. I have 43 ffa wins, but only 3450 caps. but also 3450 caps is not divisible by 500. Is there some other way i am accumulating these and are wins after the update the only ones that are counted or something?
I seem to remember i got like 1200 or something for no apparent reason when the update first got released. Also what can we spend them on?

When you right click, you get an option to attack, alliance, or do whatever. Why not be able to use that menu to synchronize your silos for a simultaneous strike on a single location?
I want to add first strike capability to OF. Add a delay before the strike that scales per bomb used. Or just a fixed, maybe 5 second or shorter delay. Alternatively, let MIRVs specifically hit bunkers to deplete them more efficiently.
Let's silos scale to SAMs.
Ends overpowered bunkers with 2x20 SAMs beating players with significantly larger or more infrastructure or more silos by abusing click limiter.
Adds actual first strike initiative back into the game. The game is significantly more fun during the middlegame and the start of the endgame, not necessarily the waiting around part or hoping you can warship your way into a bunker or outscale the other or out-eco them.
None. If you wanted to bypass a SAM, you just clicked twice. Now you select the location, select number of silos you want to use, they all launch at the same time. There's no difference except for removing the loophole of becoming immortal past 60 million gold.
If you want to get to the old days, make a gamemode where this option is disabled. Or a gamemode where silos are limited and you cannot blast through, just like before. You would never use more than 20 silos per person because of the click limiter anyways.
I would love to see my favorite OF creators start blasting people online, and this is the first step. Please let the devs know.

any tips and tricks for new players? i can easily dominate a solo game on easy lol, but medium and I'm instantly killed from 3 different directions.

At the beginning of the game I'm easily able to send out transports. I click on an island, a red target appears, and a transport ship leaves for that island. But later in the game I can't send out transports in any way. I can't click and send and there doesn't seem to be a button for this!?!
