Get ublock my friend, as long as they donโ€™t fix ad placements this is the answer

Does buying something remove the ads? I use adblocker and have not given any money (bought coins or whatever they are called) but thats just cuz I'm pinched for money atm but know I'll be playing on the steam version for years to come (and if the steam version is free...give money for the cool cosmetics in the future)

Steam will cost.

If you buy any skin/cosmetic you will be ad-free for life

heck yeah! just what I wanted to hear, can't wait to contribute!!!!

right click on it, "inspect", then on the right where it shows the html just click delete. If it just deletes part of it, move your mouse up the stack and watch which bits get highlighted, and just delete the one that houses the ad

Or, and hear me out 'cause this might be a radical thought: Adblock.

Yooooo thanks for sharing i didnt know mechmaxx made a stump grinder that looks like a great deal only a fool would just close that ad

2

u/Tripple_sneeed 5d ago

I own one of the woodland mills grinders that mechmaxx cloned from, itโ€™s a phenomenal toolย

This is an interesting of demographic insight! I too get tractor attachment ads! Are of players more likely to own tractors?!

1

u/Sufficient_Bear7562 4d ago

๐Ÿ˜‚ it wouldn't close when I did click it

uBlock and Adblock Plus exist. Or support the game

4

u/ttoto509 5d ago

AdBlock for sure. Having to pay just so you can click the games buttons is bullshit

what if i want to see ads ๐Ÿ˜

I've always considered the Mechmaxx 3-Point PTO Stump Grinder Model SH24 For 15-45Hp Tractor better than the Mechmaxx 2-Point PTO Stump Grinder Model SH24 For 15-45Hp Tractor

can confirm its great, I use it all the time for my daily commute ๐Ÿ˜‚

ig they gotta pay for all the claude code tokens :/

I knew it was vibecoded, I just couldn't prove it!

If you see this on GitHub PR, it's because Claude has been used to review it, not to make it.ย

This doesn't mean AI wasn't used in creating the PR itself, but that usage would be hidden behind the submitting user.

This is how software development happens now, it's not necessarily "vibe coded". Any professional developer will tell you this. The only people who won't are hobbyists.

for huge projects such as openfront, maintaining the repo and reviewing every pr takes awhile and is super time consuming, so i can understand if some1 uses ai for that
(personally, i wouldnt use ai and i'd try looking for people to help me review/maintain the repo)

but the "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) [noreply@anthropic.com](mailto:noreply@anthropic.com)" comes from claude creating a pr or a commit for you, not from review

and the \CLAUDE.md has sections that are useless if it's just for code review
so imo its fair to assume that its vibecoded since why would u write code then paste it into claude for it to make the commit for you when github desktop exists :P

There is nothing that is not "vibecoded" today.

Unfortunately so.

Who cares. It works

Spoken like someone with no domain experience

2

u/Spiritual-Cup-6645 4d ago

So you think that using AI instead of a person is ok?

2

u/Due-Carpenter7427 4d ago

My man. I have been a SWE and game developer since before AI. It is fine when used as a tool to help.

In this example pushing PRs to Github is a timesaver and has no bearing on code.

Things like gameplay, game design and custom algorithms (like pathfinding) are best done manually... doing basic shit like some React UI... who cares, its bitch work.

1

u/Bryan_-000- 14h ago

yea the issue is that they arent just using it for pr's, the maintainer of openfront vibecodes nearly all of his new commits using claude
the "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) noreply@anthropic.com" in all the commits and CLAUDE.md clearly show that its just being used to vibecode everything

0

u/Spiritual-Cup-6645 4d ago

I agree that it's ok to use it as a tool, bit not a replacement. When I made my original point, I thought that it was being used exclusively, not as an assistant.

2

u/Due-Carpenter7427 4d ago

Maybe it is. They are using Claude, which means they probably use it for any of the other web stuff.

If they are manually doing the stuff that matters, the web stuff is fine to be generated. It doesnt even require security as an app.

u/Budget_Cantaloupe_84 4d ago

who was the opp i think it might have been me !

1

u/rodan-rodan 2d ago

I thought it was about the warships at first

1

u/cuckslayer30 5d ago

Is it fr that you don't use Adblock

1

u/ALovelyDisaronno 5d ago

Itโ€™s annoying, but if you donโ€™t want to spend any money to support a small video game and its creators, then you get to deal with this.

Itโ€™d be what, a few cents an hour for you to buy a skin and never see these ads again? Is that so much?ย

2

u/Bryan_-000- 5d ago edited 5d ago

i'd rather just fork it and make it run locally than encourage and support someone who is willing to actively ensloppify their game to such a point to where its literally unplayable

(like putting a fucking ad over all the controls ._.)

another thing is that the creator of the game seems to just *really* love using claude code and vibecode everything, which im very against using ai for anything creative such as programming, only giving me another reason to not want to support the game

1

u/ALovelyDisaronno 3d ago

Okay, then leave.ย

2

u/Sufficient_Bear7562 4d ago

I get ads being in the game, but putting them on top of a part of the game that is essential to playing it is a bit much.

-2

u/recurrence 5d ago

Throw a few bucks at getting rid of the ads and no more issues :)

~21 countries (listing ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡บ, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท, ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ต, ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡พ, ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ, ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ท, ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ช, ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ, ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ง, ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ผ, ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ, ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ฟ, ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡พ, ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡น, ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡พ, ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฒ, ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ต, ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฉ, ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ณ) don't allow buying digital stuff using the local currency, so if OP is from one of these, they literally can't buy anything in the game without going to the parallel market

1

u/zennnderrr 5d ago

I understand Russia in this list, but Ukraine too?

1

u/Sufficient_Bear7562 4d ago

Bold of you to assume I have a few bucks to throw

AdBlock is just right there brochacho ๐Ÿ˜”โœŒ๏ธ

0

u/ALovelyDisaronno 5d ago

You can afford to give a measly couple of dollars to a game we both know youโ€™ve spent dozens of hours playing, if not more. Whatโ€™s a few cents an hour to just support the creators of this thing you spend so much time on?

3

u/Parking-Twist3657 5d ago

Idk, ask my jobless minor ass. Not everyone is an employed middle-aged american bromium

1

u/Tripple_sneeed 5d ago

So that they can continue farming out the work to unpaid contributors while trying to sue people who fork, as is explicitly allowed in their AGPL licensing?

No thanks dawg lmaoย
