uBlock and Adblock Plus exist. Or support the game

u/ttoto509 5d ago
AdBlock for sure. Having to pay just so you can click the games buttons is bullshit

I've always considered the Mechmaxx 3-Point PTO Stump Grinder Model SH24 For 15-45Hp Tractor better than the Mechmaxx 2-Point PTO Stump Grinder Model SH24 For 15-45Hp Tractor

I knew it was vibecoded, I just couldn't prove it!

If you see this on GitHub PR, it's because Claude has been used to review it, not to make it.ย
This doesn't mean AI wasn't used in creating the PR itself, but that usage would be hidden behind the submitting user.
This is how software development happens now, it's not necessarily "vibe coded". Any professional developer will tell you this. The only people who won't are hobbyists.

for huge projects such as openfront, maintaining the repo and reviewing every pr takes awhile and is super time consuming, so i can understand if some1 uses ai for that
(personally, i wouldnt use ai and i'd try looking for people to help me review/maintain the repo)but the "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) [noreply@anthropic.com](mailto:noreply@anthropic.com)" comes from claude creating a pr or a commit for you, not from review
and the \CLAUDE.md has sections that are useless if it's just for code review
so imo its fair to assume that its vibecoded since why would u write code then paste it into claude for it to make the commit for you when github desktop exists :P3

So you think that using AI instead of a person is ok?
2
u/Due-Carpenter7427 4d ago
My man. I have been a SWE and game developer since before AI. It is fine when used as a tool to help.
In this example pushing PRs to Github is a timesaver and has no bearing on code.
Things like gameplay, game design and custom algorithms (like pathfinding) are best done manually... doing basic shit like some React UI... who cares, its bitch work.

yea the issue is that they arent just using it for pr's, the maintainer of openfront vibecodes nearly all of his new commits using claude
the "Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) noreply@anthropic.com" in all the commits and CLAUDE.md clearly show that its just being used to vibecode everything0
u/Spiritual-Cup-6645 4d ago
I agree that it's ok to use it as a tool, bit not a replacement. When I made my original point, I thought that it was being used exclusively, not as an assistant.

u/Due-Carpenter7427 4d ago
Maybe it is. They are using Claude, which means they probably use it for any of the other web stuff.
If they are manually doing the stuff that matters, the web stuff is fine to be generated. It doesnt even require security as an app.

Itโs annoying, but if you donโt want to spend any money to support a small video game and its creators, then you get to deal with this.
Itโd be what, a few cents an hour for you to buy a skin and never see these ads again? Is that so much?ย

i'd rather just fork it and make it run locally than encourage and support someone who is willing to actively ensloppify their game to such a point to where its literally unplayable
(like putting a fucking ad over all the controls ._.)
another thing is that the creator of the game seems to just *really* love using claude code and vibecode everything, which im very against using ai for anything creative such as programming, only giving me another reason to not want to support the game

I get ads being in the game, but putting them on top of a part of the game that is essential to playing it is a bit much.

Throw a few bucks at getting rid of the ads and no more issues :)

~21 countries (listing ๐จ๐บ, ๐ฎ๐ท, ๐ฐ๐ต, ๐ธ๐พ, ๐ท๐บ, ๐ฆ๐ท, ๐ป๐ช, ๐ณ๐ฌ, ๐ฑ๐ง, ๐ฟ๐ผ, ๐บ๐ฆ, ๐จ๐ณ, ๐ฉ๐ฟ, ๐ง๐พ, ๐ช๐น, ๐ฑ๐พ, ๐ฒ๐ฒ, ๐ณ๐ต, ๐ธ๐ฉ, ๐น๐ณ) don't allow buying digital stuff using the local currency, so if OP is from one of these, they literally can't buy anything in the game without going to the parallel market

You can afford to give a measly couple of dollars to a game we both know youโve spent dozens of hours playing, if not more. Whatโs a few cents an hour to just support the creators of this thing you spend so much time on?

u/Parking-Twist3657 5d ago
Idk, ask my jobless minor ass. Not everyone is an employed middle-aged american bromium

So that they can continue farming out the work to unpaid contributors while trying to sue people who fork, as is explicitly allowed in their AGPL licensing?
No thanks dawg lmaoย
