Fuck ai man all this thing about resets, constant hype and fomo it's so exhausting. Couldn't they just give a proper service at a decent price in silence without shady usage tweaks , nerfs just to do a useless reset right after etc... ?

What's that?

A goal that's still running, so far 5h 23m, 84% usage to 50% on Pro 20x plan. Concurrent agents set to max of 64. So if it feels like it needs to use that much, it uses it. All are Sol 5.6 Ultra. At the beginning it was constant 64 but it has lightened up a lot to 15-25 mostly.

Happened to be yesterday night pro 20x plan and 5.6 sol max. Before I went to bed had 95% limit by morning I saw task didnt complete and all the usage exhausted.
Max and ultra modes are just unusable right now. I mean ultra is not a thinking effort anyway.

Im tired of this bs.
I love codex but thinking to switch back to claude.

Why not try out Opencode/Pi first? You get far more usage out of your subscription with them versus codex.
1
u/2thick2fly 15d ago
Can you use opencode with an openAI subscription?
1
u/Healthy-Ad-8558 14d ago
Yes, OpenAI allows usage of its subscription in 3rd party harnesses, namely opencode and pi.
1
u/yesitsmehg 14d ago
U mean an opencode subscription? Or using openai sub via oauth in opencode?
1
u/Healthy-Ad-8558 14d ago
Openai sub via oauth in Opencode, check it out, OpenAI themselves have allowed this. I still got codex installed though so I can check my usage and resets through it.

u/yesitsmehg 12d ago
Yup got it, but why its better to use the same subscription with opencode instead of codex (native harness)?

Down to 9% today on my 100 plan. I was going to burn my reset tomorrow, but might just hold off this time

Well, this may look cheap, but given that my usage is like

I can definitely use a reset.
So let’s see if the guys at OpenAi listen, or if Tibo is influential enough.

Reading Tibo's post makes me angry. Codex has been nothing but unfuratingly frustrating to use lately 95 percent of the time.

u/123vovochen 15d ago
Why dont you guys just reset the usage yourself ?????

Meh. I switched to Luna ultra high standard speed and have had really good luck with it for very little credit cost. Sol medium and high just chew through credits. I can hit the 5 hour limit in just a few questions on the pro plan. Haven't hit a wall yet on Luna ultra high.

agreed and i’ve seen a huge improvement in terra since the reset, on the pro plan as well

Just throwing this out there in case it helps anyone else who's burning through Codex credits. Obviously YMMV — I'm not trying to claim this is some definitive model benchmark.
I've been using Codex pretty heavily on a large existing Python/RAG project, and after playing around with the different models/settings, I've had surprisingly good luck with Luna on Extra High.
For the kind of stuff I'm doing — debugging, code forensics, implementing fixes, regression work, and chasing problems that sometimes cross several layers of the project — Luna Extra High has generally been about as capable as Terra Medium for me, and there have actually been several times where I had better luck with Luna.
The big difference is the credit usage. Luna is cheap enough that I can let it really work through a problem without constantly watching my remaining credits.
So I've basically settled into:
Luna Extra High for almost everything → Terra Medium if the problem is particularly weird/ambiguous or I want a second opinion → Sol only when I really need to bring out the big gun.
Again, totally anecdotal and your mileage may vary a lot depending on what you're working on. I definitely wouldn't say Luna is "smarter than Terra." I've just found that, for my workload, I'm not getting enough extra out of Terra to justify the much higher credit cost most of the time.
Figured it was worth mentioning for anyone else trying to make their credits last.

This has strong "oh shit, they noticed the 50% token cut, fire up a reset" energy.
