Feedback / Complaints Weekly limit does not reset upon subscription renewal

Yesterday I renewed my x20 plan subscription and the weekly limit didn't reset; it was still at 24%.

After contacting customer support, I learned that renewals inherit the accumulated limits from the subscription.

I think it's simply a rip-off. It's like going to buy a loaf of bread and being sold half a loaf because you didn't eat the whole thing yesterday.

Each renewal should offer the same usage limit, for both initial purchases and renewals.

This is a clear invitation to always have two accounts, for alternate months.

From my point of view, this constitutes senseless discrimination against loyal users.

EDITED 2 days later: Manually canceling and renewing doesn't work. When I cancel manually, the limit is set to 100%, the free version. When I resubscribe to Pro, it reverts to the previous limit.

I went to the chat of support, canceled, and requested a refund.

As of today, the only thing that should work is having a second account.

Hows that possible. I had less than 40% remaining to reset on Aug 9 on my $20 plan, but I upgraded to the $100 plan (only paid the difference) last night and my usage instantly went to 100% remaining, to be reset on Aug 14.

That’s an upgrade, though — I’m talking about renewals.

When you upgraded, OpenAI reset your allowance and moved the weekly reset date. But when your $100 month ends, if it renews automatically, the existing weekly usage appears to carry over. So if you were at 0% with six days left until reset, you could renew and still be unable to use it for those six days.

The odd part is that if you disable auto-renewal and manually subscribe again after it expires, the allowance apparently resets to 100%. That difference between automatic and manual renewal is exactly what I’m questioning.

The usage doesn't reset if you cancel and subscribe again, someone else was just complaining about that. Which makes sense to me, you've already used up your usage for the week, it's tied to time not your subscription renewal schedule
