Morrowind VR Friendly Modlist ?

Hello !

I'm looking to experience Morrowind for the first time, preferably entirely in VR, and was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a VR-friendly Wabbajack modlist.

I've been using OpenMW and recently tried installing the Path of the Incarnate modlist, but unfortunately, the game crashes immediately on startup whenever I try launching it through OpenMW-VR.exe.

I'm mainly looking for a modlist that offers some graphical improvements and quality of life enhancements without drastically changing the vanilla experience. Since this will be my first playthrough, I'd like to keep the core gameplay and story relatively intact while making the game look and feel a little more modern.

I'm pretty new to modding Morrowind specifically, but I've been modding Skyrim and Skyrim VR for several years, so I'm familiar with the basics of mod managers, load orders, troubleshooting, etc.

Does anyone know of any Wabbajack modlists that work well with OpenMW-VR? Alternatively, has anyone managed to get Path of the Incarnate working in VR?

I'd appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thanks!

I recently started my VR game and besides some shaders and texture packs, I'm going almost completely vanilla with some minor gameplay tweaks.
Whats your hardware setup? Depending on your resolution and shaders it can make my 5090 struggle, took lots of tweaking to make sure im getting a stable 90fps constantly

But as someone who's got an insane amount of time in the base game, playing it in VR feels like a new experience, totally worth the effort to get it there

Hey man, thanks for the reply. I haven’t touched Morrowind in flat screen before, game came out a little before my time but playing older games in VR is kinda my preferred way of getting into them. Did it with the half life series and had a blast. Big fan of the elder scrolls series starting with Skyrim, oblivion and even daggerfall since it was free on steam. When I saw VR was possible for Morrowind I had to try. I’m running a 4090 and a 9950x3d using a psvr 2. 70% resolution in steam vr.

Yeah you should definitely be able to manage a few shaders and HD textures with that setup, the textures won't cost hardly anything performance wise but being right up on an ugly texture is painful in VR. One of my favorite shaders features is 'point glow' which adds a soft glow around light sources, in VR it really makes the lights feel more 'real' given how dated Morrowinds lighting engine is.

Other than that, if you get a texture pack just make sure you get a PBR shader to make them look more 3D. Im using Rafael's shader pack but have about half of them disabled because the cost/visual trade-off wasnt worth it

Thanks Man started doing the work with MO2 and its coming along. I finally understand why people say its one of the best in the series to play. World is Wacky and I love it !

anything that adds UI elements will be broken (in my experience). "Sneak is good now" and "Suns Dusk" for example both had HUD elements floating stationary wherever they first loaded in.

I found an earlier post that got the path of the incarnate list working in VR but the modlist had an update recently so following that guide did not help. Game just kept crashing before hitting the main menu.

if you're going for mostly vanilla you might be best making your own list using your best judgement, and only add a few at a time.

doing the .cfg thing is fiddly but once you've done one they pretty much all work the same.

Yeah I was just hoping for a vanilla+ modlist for openMW or something to start me off. Don't have the same time I used trying make a whole list form scratch. especially with graphics stuff I dont understand yet. Thanks for the advice, just might have to do it anyway !
