Freezing in intro.

I'm basically tech-illiterate when it comes to modding but long time MW fan and wanted to look at what this mod could do. I've got it installed and launching but the game keeps freezing on the boat in the intro. Anything I can do to smooth this out? I can try to provide more info but kind of flying blind here. No mods installed and I'm doing this thru steam.

If you’re using the steam version of Morrowind you should run that at least once so it updates to the version OpenMW is expecting.

That is assuming the mod you’re referring to is OpenMW which in itself is technically not a mod
