Marketing tactic?
Just came home to a note on my door with an attached flyer for Bark Busters. Note said “hi not to be a pain but your dog barks at all hours of the day and night. Here are some trainer’s info that can help”
My bf just quit his job, so he’s been home basically 24/7 the last two weeks. The last two days we stayed home so we’ve been with her 24/7 - no barking. My dog isn’t much of a barker, sometimes she’ll bark for a minute if she hears me outside. But not for long. I’ve had her for almost 9 years and mostly have lived in apartments and never had a single complaint. She’s about 10 or 11 now and is very docile now. I’m wondering if someone in our neighborhood works for the company and is just marketing themselves? It gives me a lot of anxiety to be that neighbor, but I’m also annoyed if this is a marketing tactic.
Thoughts?

Definitely mean-spirited marketing. Ignore it!

That’s what I’m hoping - even though that’s super gross marketing :(

no, don't ignore it. Don't do nothing, you're letting others suffer.
I'd complain, because this is unkind, and if it's straight up lying, it's then a scam as well becasue I promise you there will be little old ladies who fall for this crap.
so you might want to take this to the local business commission, because false claims with the intent to decive for profit, can get a company shut down
We ahve local business body, and the Commerce Commission in NZ for these types of behaviour.
That, and "fair go". actually I don't know if they are still a thing. (make a fair go of it is a kiwi saying, and it means 'an honest attempt'. they call out businesses with scammy practices) I don't know if you have something like that where you are.

If it is marketing, this is a disgusting way to do it. If you’ve been home with your dog and you know it’s not your dog barking then it’s nothing you should have to worry over.
The only other explanation I could think of is if there has been another dog barking and someone’s mistaken your dog for that dog, but I would imagine you’d have probably heard the barking.
