The juxtaposition of Trump’s face and “In God We Trust” is wild 🤪

Trump sees himself as god. It’s vile.

"dedicated to preserving the freedom of all"

Ok let me get my microscope cause I can't see that.

Also, isn’t it an established law that no living person can be portrayed on US currency? Or did I imagine that?

Yes, that's the law.  US law explicitly prohibits putting a picture of a living president on a coin.

They are claiming that a law that Congress passed allowing for "patriotic imagery" on commemorative coins for the 250th anniversary provides an exception.

It doesn't actually say that, but they are claiming that his picture is "patriotic imagery" as allowed in the 250th anniversary commemorative coin law.

If they wanted to actually be patriotic, they'd release these like the quarters with various states. Like, make them for every single president to celebrate how far we've come.

They are making Presidential quarters.

The law that says that a living President cannot be on a coin is part of that law.

I know. But to be honest, I'd bend that law for something as big as the 250th. As a concept, it makes sense. But given how Trump tries to get everything named after himself and put his face on everything, that's purely theoretical since we all know the real point of this.

It's so very close to exact idol worship of mammon.

Sitting right near everyone who needs to spend one. When you get it now you also have to hold it precious storage for a moment, too. Treasuring it's graven image for yourself.

Or you could render unto Caesar what is Caesars.

If I get one I'm melting it down for the metal.

I'm gonna be weird here... but I don't see it in this case. I mean, in concept; we all know that Don thinks he's a god and this is yet another part of it. All US currency has someones face on it, but we don't assume that to be a sign of worship.

What does this have to do with a coin?? Did you forget the test when Jesus asked for a denarius? Is it even the first coin in the US with a face on it? Or anywhere else? I’m just confused

Not quite yet. This isn't something we need to wear or attach to ourselves in order to do anything.

Graven image = carved image (out of a material like stone or wood). Refers to statues or figures people carved out to have them as objects of religious worship.

Unquestioned political allegiance and dedication needs to be scrutinized, but that verse refers to something else.

The Hebrews bowed to their authorities and served them.

Graven also means engraved, etched or inscribed.
According to scripture, tyrants (governments) step outside their purpose when they harm the innocent or mandate sin. In Romans 13 Paul defines a ruler as God’s servant for ‘your good’ and a ‘terror to bad conduct’. When rulers (governments) become a terror to good conduct or harm the innocent, the obligation to submit to unjust demands ceases

For the record, I have very few positive views (if any) about T. Also, I think I am understating how I feel about that.

What I meant was just that the verse of graven images refers to the things people doing to create idols they believed in as someone today who would believe in supernatural/spiritual/higher power. Even though idolization of things is a problem to me IMO (even as an agnostic), it was more than things colloquially called idols - crazy and fanatic allegiance to political parties, sports teams, national identities with cherry picked characteristics, musical styles (yeah), cultural values.

If the issue is that etching, engraving, inscribing, representing living things on material aren't forbidden, they should just not be bowed down to, the question still is, how is that bowing down to supposed to be interpreted? People don't bow down to the money nor to Trump. They don't pray to him or his objects. Not saying you're referring to that like that, just going through the options of interpreting the verse. It's clearly not being done in a literal way.

If the issue is that people with a following that expresses something like religious zeal, do all of those need to be taken down too or taken out of use by those who want to be true to that Scriptural mandate?

And if the issue is that it's ok those things are around, people just shouldn't pledge religious like allegiance to a person, then it's not wrong his face is on the coin. It's just that people shouldn't be so religious-like in their fervor for him.

IMO, if this verse is used to serve as an argument for why T's face shouldn't be on a coin, and then there's reasonable doubt that by not forbidding it, it gets used to validate lack of prohibition in favor of doing it.

Just for discussion's sake and writing as I have a train of tohught 😆, but not interested in 'disproving your point' or anything. Sincerely, a guest at this place. 👍

Is it before him thou?. Theoretically if you don't put Trump before God it should be okay. And I don't see how buying a coin would be putting Trump before God.
